This is why it needs to be defined. Gaming is a new form of art that has yet to be evaluated.
It really isn't a one or the other approach. Gaming becoming an art won't change how gamers see gaming or how they treat it. It's definitely about people outside gaming would perceive it. Saying "I'm a gaming journalist or critic for a living" should hold just as much weight as a film critic. However, this is not the case as most people see it as laughable. Also, this evaluation I proposed could allow for some ground truth in how a game is reviewed and provide a stan...

You guys are taking him out of context. He's not talking about classics. He's referring to games that are just a couple of years old and how gamers are much less likely to play a game that is "old" as compared to a movie that they didn't see and is "old" and by "old" I do mean a year or two because that is what he said in the article. Nuclear dawn is definitley worth that price. It's a neat little game. Warning, it's got a bit of learning curve so expect to suck at first.

I don't think this has much to do with image. I think it just shows that not as many people buy collectors editions as one might think. At least not in the demographic bf3 is going after. Which regardless of what you say I have facts from a gamestop district manager who said it's mostly the adults getting bf3 and their kids want mw3. Keep in mind I'm not just saying this. It's coming from someone who has access to this type of data.
