IMO if the Wii is a toy it's just because it's pure fun, and it doesn't try to be anything else. I don't think that's a bad thing.
Some days, yes, I turn to that piano-black beast that is the PS3, and Uncharted and Warhawk and all that stuff. But when you have friends over or when you just want fun without all the frills, the Wii still has a place on the market.
I don't know how many multi-console owners there are out there, but as one myself I'll never see the...
Very few people are going to pay the extra cash for a duo drive at this point. I don't see why we can't all go Blu and make life easier for ourselves.
Why bother then?
DVRs are pretty common nowadays, and I don't know any DVD-owning people that will just sacrifice pausing and rewinding and all that good stuff.
Loved Portal, and it's interesting to get a look at how it was made.
It seems that all Microsoft can promise is that eventually, 360s will be made that won't get red ringed.
That's great, but it's not much consolation to the 15 mil+ people who have 360s right now. When you pay $400 for a console you expect it to work properly, and Microsoft quite simply hasn't been able to provide that.
Actually, I think if the choices based on ANYTHING about the consoles it's their appearances.
Darth Vader is black and sleek like the PS3, and Yoda is green like the 360.
(NOTE THAT I ABSTAINED FROM ANY "AGING" OR "ALIEN-LOOKING" 360 POTSHOTS)
It's a strategy that has tried and failed several times.
People want a great phone or a great game player, not something that is OK at doing both.
I really want this game.
I would cut off my foot if it meant I could play LBP right now.
I'm not kidding. Is that sad?
That's probably one of the better posts I've seen around here for some time.
Where does all that money go? Into the crummy-looking plastic or the universal remote that seems to have been glued on top?
Not afraid to make their parent company look bad.
30 frames/second is quite playable, not to mention we still have a couple months or so before development is over.
I'm not too worried; Kojima hasn't let us down yet.
"Toshiba Corp. on Sunday introduced a laptop computer that can read and record HD DVD discs, the first of its kind."
...And the last of its kind.
Keeping games away isn't much of a solution to make the Wii less crappy...
I mean, sure it's targeted toward a casual audience, but wouldn't that kinda change if hardcore titles arrived on the Wii?
I wonder if this will make a record for longest time without a single report or approval...
I guess people just really don't care.
I bet he's sitting in his office right now with his head in his hands.
Also, those violin players from the Titanic are playing for him.
"Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight."
If all that is true, there are going to be some seriously disappointed gamers.
I think at this point Mario is way too familiar a game character to be just... out of the picture.
I agree that maybe these same characters are starting to get a little bland, but hey, you don't have to keep buying Mario games if you don't want to. Sure, you'd be missing out on some of the finest gameplay around, but if you're really getting tired of that face no one is stopping you from giving up with Mario.
I actually laughed at the title.
Somehow I doubt that any of the CNet-reading audience would have little enough awareness to buy an HD-DVD player at this point.
I guess some could see the article as flamebait, but it's by a relatively important games journalist so I'm cool with it.
I absolutely agree with the points made. If you're willing to pay the money for a PS3, you get your money's worth several times over. I agree that it's the best gaming investment I've ever made.
And although he calls it "fat," I also happen to think that the PS3 is the best-looking console of all time.
