To be fair - and most of you are trying not to be - you would also have to consider what would have happened if the 360 of today was released in 2005.

This data goes through June.

Fortunately for MS, beginning in July, they have already shaved several hundred thousand off of that 4 million in just a single month, with no signs of slowing.

The gap is opening again.

Sony CLAIMS to have 1:1 tracking, but the Move demos are laggy. That's a pattern I've noticed.

Watch Sony's E3 conference again to see just how laggy & unresponsive Move is - especially with the Tiger Woods demonstration.

From what's been shown of Kinect & Move so far, neither will work as they are supposed to

So, it's OK because you didn't buy it.

You're not exactly making a great argument either.

On topic - the quality of many XBLA games has greatly increased since launch. For me, based on how much fun I had with Hydro Thunder, I will gladly pay $15 for the new version next week. Plus, there are now full Dreamcast ports - those are definitely worth $15.

"nice a PS2 game and a demo vs. a full 360 game"

So, I guess it's Turn 10 or MS's fault that Polyphony didn't have full Gran Turismo games ready in time to compete with Forza releases.

You can only compare what actually exists, and Turn 10 has done a better job of releasing high quality games in shorter intervals.

Also, Forza games may have less total vehicles, but they also have FAR fewer repeat vehicles. Adding ...

It used to be that every racing game was compared to GT - implying GT was the gold standard.

Now, GT is being looked at in terms of "how does it compare to Forza?".

Even if GT5 does surpass Forza 3, the Forza series has made a permanant mark in the console driving sim genre.

When has Sony ever released a bundle with a new game on day one for the same price as the console alone?

5050d ago 8 agree3 disagreeView comment

EEMAA PS3 + 360 + Wii = 60 million lifetime sales. That's Europe & Australia.

By contrast, PS3 + 360 + Wii = 70+ million in the U.S. ALONE.

So, the U.S. - one single country - is a bigger market than all of Europe & Australia COMBINED.

"alot of 360 fans are happy with just playing multiplat shooters online"

It's not just 360 fans. The top five selling PS3 games are GTA4, COD:MW2, COD:MW, COD:World at War, & MGS4.

Seems nearly everyone, regardless of what console they own, love playing multi-platform shooters.

The U.S. isn't the only country that matters, but it is, by far, the largest single gaming country in the world.

Look at it this way. Would you rather lose every other international tournament but win the World Cup, or win all the others and lose the World Cup? Winning the others will provide a great quantity argument, but what is the bigger accomplishment?

Besides, NPD, which reports U.S. numbers, has been around for over 15 years. They are well r...

As I said though, many people with a PC still cannot play ME2 on it, even though it's a PC game.

Maybe there needs to be different terminology for these types of releases. It's not multi-platform, because so many PC's can't run it despite it being advertised as a PC game. It's also not 360 exclusive, because some higher-spec PC's can run it.

I believe these types of games can and do drive console sales because of the complication...

DLC really gets a bad rap, especially here on N4G. It has nothing to do with "content that should have been included to begin with", as I hear quite often.

DLC keeps a game fresh by offering content that didn't exist when the game was released. Forza 3 was released in 2009, but there have already been 2010 model cars released via DLC. I'm glad that in the coming years, as new model cars are released, I can add them to my game via DLC if I choose to. <...

PC is not a platform because every PC game is not playable on every PC. Consoles do not require memory or graphics card updates to play newer games.

With a console, every game plays on every console. A PS2 purchased in 2000 will play the all of the same games as a PS2 purchased in 2010.

A 360 owner who buys a 360 game knows it's guaranteed to play on his console. A PS3 owner who buys a PS3 game knows it's guaranteed to play on his console. A P...

What's the fascination with first party studios? Talented developers make great games, regardless of who owns them. As long as MS continues to seek out studios that make great games, I couldn't care less who owns the studio.

Making your game buying decisions based on the owner of the studio that makes the game is pretty ridiculous.

Hypothetically, would Mass Effect 2 somehow be a better game if MS owned Bioware? Would Metal Gear Solid 4 be bet...

It's even more closed minded & biased to believe that someone would pay $200-$300 to re-purchase a console instead of using a FREE warranty service. I know you really want to believe that is true, but believing it doesn't make it so.

Maybe some of the million banned consoles were re-purchased - I'll give you that. That alone, though, would have little statistical impact on overall sales.

Failure rate has NOTHING to do with install base. If someone buys a 360 and it breaks, that customer sends it back to MS for a replacement. It is still one sale, and one unit of the installed base.

The only way that a console failure would affect the install base is if a person throws away the defective console instead of using the free warranty service to have it replaced.

The public will decide what game is best. Halo 3 was released nearly 3 years ago. The marketing campaign is long since over.

Even with so many shooters released since, Halo 3 still remains one of the most played games on the 360.

If Halo 3 was mediocre & overhyped, it would have done well at release, then faded over time in favor of other games. That hasn't happened. Halo 3 continues to sell well, and continues to be a top played game.

The 360 communtity fell in line with the highest rated driving sim in 9 years. If you think that's pathetic, you're hopeless.

Forza 3 is the new king until a competitor actually releases a better game. The Forza series has been on top since it's introduction in 2005. Even if GT5 ends up higher rated, Forza has had a great 5+ year run as king. Forza 4 will probably reclaim the title.

The fact that the mere mention of Forza 4 brings out the...
