The good thing about the ps4 design is that it is affordable to manufacture. The cell processor its self didn't hold the ps3 back from actual sales (although it did hurt in developer terms) What stopped people from jumping straight for the ps3 was the 600 dollar price tag and year head start for the 360 to gain momentum. That and the ps3 (at first) seemed like the 360 in terms of what a console could do. The Wii was completely different.

We all know most sales for a game happens within the first two weeks of launch before it even hits the used market. Blocking used games is more just a scraping for exra profits game. If you want to win that then sell new games for a similar price on live or best of package and then you don't even need a stupid dmc measure to chase off half of your gamers.
And 360 fanboys troll and PS3 fanboys troll. Pretty much a troll going to troll. So there is no sense taking a slight at a whole community, that is like stereotyping all gamers or saying only pc gamers are bad.

Amazon pre orders for games are 99.99 for PS4 games. I really hope games don't stay that expensive next generation or I'll buy only used.
A monopoly is if / when Sony owns Nintendo and MS. The PS2 is called a a$$ kicker of its generation.

MS did capitalize on the one year head start and The U.S. bought into video games early this generation. However, Sony has really brought the competition to close out this generation. It'll be interesting to see who goes where once the PS4 is released. So far they have gained a lot of interest, MS is now the ones that need to keep up moving forwar...
I suffered the YLOD too, I actually think it is preventative knowing what I know now and going the the re-flowing process of trying to extend the life a little.
There was no way for me to have known this early in the ylod epidemic, but changing the thermo compound after owning a ps3 for five years will prevent the ylod.
Both Sony and Microsoft were on track to get rid of used games a while back, there is a reason why that rumor exists.
Sony just recently stated that they are not going to get rid of the ability to play used games..
When asked they stated, "we are going to do the right thing."
Now it's time to see if Microsoft will also back out of the idea of riding gamers of used games or not...

The only reason game developers are integrating coop is to curve piracy. It does do that, but it also makes games suck. Unless its a true coop game like a mmo and not a single player game (i.e. dead space, resident evil) forcing coop play.

Thats is very true, especially with multitasking. From what I'm hearing here so far its seems like AMD actually made a really smart move by putting a 8 core cpu in the PS4. If the 720 also gets a 8 core cpu, then games will be built to take advantage of 8 cores over 4 cores with hyper-threading. That could keep AMD slightly ahead with pure gaming.

Good to know, I've eyed both those cpus as they are both in a affordable price range. But, I don't need to be cutting edge unless that is where gaming is heading. Two good cpu's.. but when will gaming really take advantage of that sort of power? When it actually seems viable I will...

The 360 had a firm lead and the PS3 was in crises mode to start this generation. When the PS3 started focusing on actual games and when the 360 lessened their exclusives and how aggressive they were to start this generation the PS3 caught up.. And the PS3 overtook the 360 during the Kenect years of this generation. Talk about who has the broadest strategy all you want, but the PS3 HAS finally sold more consoles then the 360 this generation and ov...

Who cares no one wants either console for motion control. It's all about the games.
DRM.. That's the annoying thing that has been fixed due to piracy and cracks. DRM ruined games this generation, and hackers made those games playable. Not that I condone hacking and piracy, but obviously its there.
It looks like xboxone is getting jail broken early this generation as outside sources have had to fix all of MS's crappy mistakes as of late.
