Yeah, that is true, even with the violence I never feel worried in the game.
I wonder if that has to do with the game-ness though. I mean, if I had a fricking AK-47 in real life, I wouldn't be too worried in NY. Or if dying just set me back a couple hundred and a hospital visit... either way, good stuff to discuss.
This is a funny read, I'd like to see some other articles along the same vein. They remind me of these "on the seat" interviews one of my friends used to do, where he did mock interviews with gaming characters (like a drunk Master Chief, a jealous Luigi, a kind Mr. Big Daddy).
And yeah, the pedestrians are the world's best killer fodder. I love that they try so hard to escape in the new games. Makes it that much more fun to run em down and kill em. Hehehehe. Sadistic mu...
Really? You play GTA 4?
Cuz the newest version has a lot more unscripted events, many of them involving other criminals. At least a dozen times I've seen criminals running past me, being chased by cops, and they had nothing to do with what I'm doing. Sometimes I had just loaded up the game, sometimes it was during a miss, other times I had just been screwing around. And I've had gang members shoot at me in Alderney before, and even heard gunshots in the park in Algonquin.

This is how reviews should be written: thorough, interesting, and comparing the good and the bad.
I knew hardly anything about this before, all I knew was that it let you play old games. But now I feel like I know everything. Since its a free download I think I'll give it a try, but I doubt I'll spend any points once the free plays are up.
I like your idea of the punishment. Nice and severe. For those who spoiled all of the following games:
Halo 3
MGS4
Gears of War2
Heavy Rain
God of War 3
BioShock 2 (didn't see this on here, but someone else spoiled it for me)
Alan Wake
Splinter Cell Conviction
Gran Turismo 5 (I don't care if there's no story, I don't want to even hear what the final car is, dammit!)
ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!!
Only when the assholes lie d...
@ Tito
Did you even read the article? I didn't say the Sony rep shouldn't be allowed to diminish Nintendo, by all means, Nintendo has been belittling Sony about Move so they have every right to talk back.
I said he shouldn't WANT to diminish Nintendo, because they are both after the same thing. Both companies are trying to promote 3D now, so I don't think Sony should be downplaying Nintendo's 3D. If Nintendo's 3D succeeds in the handhelds, its going to make more cons...
If I want exercise, I just walk or jog on the treadmill while I play games. Its still surprisingly easy to play Halo or Resident Evil while jogging. Although the jogging skills suffer... I may have tripped once or twice.
Or I play sports. They're like video games, but more real-like.
Yeah I hadn't noticed his name until you pointed that out. Thanks. A lot. Wheww....
But if the guy is that much of a tool (as to put something in his name) I'm pretty sure he's not the responsible type of person that would be working for a credible news source and getting early review copies.
So I highly highly doubt he actually played it and knows what he's talking about. If he was right, I'll track him down and kill him for ruining it.
I don't know what he did, but apparently it was bad, cuz he got SPAMMED out. Thanks mods for keeping the comment sections clean.
If you want a girl to play games and have sex with, get a girlfriend. That's what I did, works out just fine. And it's a hell of a lot cheaper than $43.50 an hour, even after you figure in the B-day, V-day and weekly dates/dinners.
Oh, its also in person too. Which is kind of nice, ya know, that whole REAL physical contact thing.
This is very bad for the game industry, and I'm not a fan at all.
It's going to reinforce all the negative stereotypes about gamers, that we are all male, that we're all lonely losers, that we have bad morals. I mean, the outside world will see this as sex-less prostitution. I say we boycott.
You mean the indie or XBLA games are dime a dozen, or the arcadey-racer types?
Cuz the XBLKA games usually are very different. If you mean racers, I'd like to know which other ones are out there to try... cuz I was just remembering how much fun I had with similar games on my gameboys.
Kind of sounds like a top-down Burnout, with all of those different modes. Wasn't a huge fan of Burnout, but then I was expecting an actual racing game.
If this has any of the humor and action of Twisted Metal, I think I'd love it. When I get more points I'll give it a go.
Nice review, thanks!
Bad Company 1 wasn't set in WWII, you should fix that mistake. You mention it a couple times.
Otherwise a decent review.
I'm psyched for Fable 3, its looking a lot better than 2, which I passed on.
btw, should probably add the bit-tech site as an original source, keeping your 1Up article as the main link.
BTW, nice read here. Despite what Lame Poontab thinks, a well-written review is worth reading no matter when its published. And its only 2 weeks later anyway, tons of professional Metacritic-level reviews are still coming out for FFXIII. With a game this long, if you wanted to do multiple play-throughs or make sure you check everything out, you'd have to take about 2 weeks to play it.
I'm planning to try this out at some point, just have too many other games to finish first. I haven't played a Final Fantasy in a while, so it'll be good to jump back into it.
I'm getting a broken link error message. Something wrong with your link? I'd love to actually read about the multiplayer...
There was 1 other article that came up that was somewhat related, but they didn't even bother to say what the game was in the title, they just teased a big reveal. And from taking the news tests and tutorials a few weeks ago, I definitely remember it frowning upon such cheap tease factors, and the tutorial stating explicitly that you need to say what the actual topic is in the title or the description.
So by N4G's own official standards, the OTHER article should not have been app...
Yeah, that's what I thought. Only other downloadable game I've seen that looked this good and this detailed was Shadow Complex, but granted that was kind of a 2D game.
