More of what makes The Division and Ghost Recon Wildlands so good, the in-the-moment action, and less of the live service formula and less copy and paste objectives. But yeah, they really have been pushing new IPs.

It's true. You can go out right now and get a copy of MGS for PS1 for $10, MGS2 you can probably find for a buck, and 3 is the golden goose of the series, so that one might be $20 for a copy of subsistence. Or you can go get the HD collection for $10 for PS3/360. What you don't need to do is support Konami cashing in on Kojima's team's actual hard work and passion because they refuse to make new games.
This game could never be released. A realistic open world exploration game of the Holy Land? That will easily get an AO rating.
This comment is erroneous. It matters obviously to Hofstaderman because they want to know. Manufacturers regularly break down sales for individual SKUs. Sony doesn't lump PS3 sales in when they're talking about how well the PS4 performed. MS lumping Xbones and Series' together is meant to obfuscate how badly each generation performed.
Keep in mind, most of those 79M units sold were businesses buying Xbox Ones to use as raffle/giveaway items.
Most FF are linear. 13 wasn't even the first one that made you feel like you were running down a series of hallways. 9 was literally a straight shot to disc 4.
The only reason why FF7 is so revered is because it was the biggest, flashiest, next gen RPG on the block in 97. FFXVI might have it where it counts, but it has nowhere near a fraction of the cultural impact that 7 had. 7 also had a marketing campaign.
You want PC performance out of a $500 console? But you also want cutting edge graphics? Pick one. Or buy a PC.

Getting rid of console exclusives will eventually mean that the vast majority of gamers will congregate around 1 single console, not distribute evenly over all consoles. And at this rate, it'll be a Playstation.
If the game wasn't called "Final Fantasy" would people be complaining about what they need this game to be like this long after release? I'm a huge TB FF fan, that is the heyday of the series, but literally, who cares if the new one isn't your cup of tea. Just don't buy it then. It's not like you're staring at all 15 main line titles and all of the spin offs on your shelf going "aww, but I have to buy 16!" Go play Octopath, Dragon Quest, Trails, Tal...
