This is old news, all these details were reported way back in March. https://www.gamesradar.com/...

Eh, it'll be well over a year old by the time you see it on Series X. In order to get mild upgrades to it you'll have to invest in another $500+ box no doubt for an old title. I don't think many people are going to...

Be interesting to see the sales figures for the Xbox One X after it reaches the three year old mark.

Bet it wasn't very many, less than 10 million units.

Since launch of the One X there has been just under 20m Xbox One machines sold, and I find it highly unlikely that any more than half of them were the One X model globally. I would suggest quite a lot less than half, if they are discontinuing that model but still making the S which apparently they b...

Death Stranding came to PC. It's only 7 months old. Definitive version according to Digital Foundry.

Games will only be written for Xbox One's HDD on Microsoft side and also Xbox Series X SSD speed.

PC will have a raft of PCIe 4.0 drives before next gen consoles launch, the API to support low level access, and won't be restricted to less than 1TB capacity which I can see being a severe problem.

I mean how many next gen games with updates and DLC will you really fit on 850GB? And will it even be 850GB? It'll probably end up about 750GB with sy...

PS4 Pro has like an RX480 with a larger back end (double the ROPs) but heavily downclocked, to below base clock speed of that GPU. It's probably a bit slower than an RX470 if you also factor in the shared memory bandwidth with the CPU.

Obviously nowhere near an i7 4770k though on the CPU side.

i5 2500k and GTX780 for minimum, that's some venerable old hardware right there. Nine year old CPU, seven year old GPU. Both pre-date PS4's launch, that's how old they are.

Even the recommended is hardly cutting edge. i7 4770k is seven years old and GTX1060 is now four years old. This should run very well on anything from the past few years then.

LOL native 1440p + 60FPS is easily better than 4K checkerboarding at 30FPS.

Add my downvote to your post into the other 34 negatives to your sole upvote....

If you think the PC version isn't better easily than the console version for the ability to do 60FPS you're an absolute eejit.

Meh there will be a lot of driver level optimisations to finish off, and then balancing the settings for the release.

I would say that with the game on PS4 and Xbox One, the performance hit is never the core raster rendering. It'll be lots of crazy ray tracing effects that sap massive performance.

Two things- they will improve that performance and balance out the quality of the ray tracing so it is more realistic.

The second being t...

A slim console is ENTIRELY reliant on a new manufacturing process node to shrink the main SoC down and reduce the power consumption and thermal dissipation.

New process = less power = less heat. That means smaller VRMs, more compact motherboard design, smaller power supply, more compact cooling solution and all fitted in a smaller case.

PS5 will need a quality 5nm process to even think about this, which is going to be at least 2022 for mass production. P...

It runs 1800p checkerboarded on PS4 Pro. GT7 looks to take a small step up and moves the game to native 4K.

And? The 'and' was me expounding with more details the use of the technology in this game.

That was literally the 'and' my little lad.

It has some 1/4 resolution ray tracing on body reflections of the player's car in gameplay.

It looks good but it won't be transformative, especially if you use cockpit cam all the time!

Probably because comparison footage is being made using GT Sport on a PS4 Pro, which is already running at 1800p, far above the base model.

PS4 Pro is still less than four years old hardware. We haven't had mainstream home consoles that had mid life refreshes to raise their performance like this before.

Inevitably that meant the gap would narrow to next gen machines.

If you only had GT Sport at 1080p on 2013 PS4 hardware then the c...

Temper your expectations a bit. You can shoot one ray and trace one bounce and then say 'our game fully supports real time ray tracing' despite the fact gamers won't see it.

Create a distinction in your mind between 'support' and real time impressive use of the technique.

GT7 was prime for this. The into footage and replay style was ripe with genuine real time ray tracing reflections, but when you had the gameplay on Trial Mountain it ...

"PS Pro has twice the power compared to base PS4 and Naughty Dog gives equal quality"

Twice in terms of raw GPU compute but little elsewhere more where it also matters. CPU, memory, bandwidth etc. So the whole system is not twice as powerful.

2560 x 1440 Pro version is nearly twice the resolution of 1920 x 1080 base version. That's what you're getting.

Most of PS4's Pro's performance goes to the extra pixels al...

If you had to chose a single gaming platform it simply has to be a PC. It's not difficult. With the ridiculous array of future, present and enormous backwards compatible list of titles you can run it's a no brainer.

It is the king because it does everything. It can play phew, probably 50,000 games from the last 45 years, all almost without exception in a better way than anything else on any other platform. A console that isn't out yet and only plays 10 games on ...

It's my observation only around the time of new generation of consoles do gamers feel like they want to talk about the supposed death of PC gaming.

Then about two years later it is apparent PC has comfortably surpassed new consoles in every conceivable technical way, thriving and growing faster as usual like it has done for decades now.

PC as a gaming market has grown bigger than any single console platform, it has grown to a revenue of all home conso...

"Yet nothing on PC looks like Uncharted 4, TLou2, Order and Tsushima."

Plainly this is a person that has never played on PC. Anyone that thinks 1080p 30FPS console games look better in front of you than a 1440p 60FPS or 4K PC version is out of their depth in the conversation.

10 percent of well over a hundred million Steam gamers is an awful lot of high end PC gamers, certainly more than next gen console owners which at the moment stands at nil....

Sony never had a real presence on the PC platform up until recently. The fact they are releasing it now does not suddenly set a trend that they will release their next HZD game or anything else 3 years after. This is not some grand plan Sony enacted 3 years ago.

Anyone that says 'well bois, that's definitely always 3 years between console and PC launches based on this entirely isolated example' obviously is a bit dim.

It's unprecedented. I...
