The difference in performance between an RX 470 quoted as minimum and a GTX1060 6GB as recommended isn't that much. Probably more poorly chosen spec lists you shouldn't pay much attention to in terms of guidance. Wait for benchmarks.

Looks weak. Either go for the full fat next gen machines or don't bother.

Leakage says the top part will be behind the 3080 still, but well ahead of the 3070.

Hence the 3070Ti prepared and waiting in the background.

HBM2 is too expensive for cards that will probably struggle to compete with Nvidia's top parts. Especially if you want 16GB of it. Margins would be thinner than thin.

Speculation has it AMD already had to lower the retail price of these parts immediately after Nvidia's reveal showed they were heavily up against it.

Expect AMD's top card to lie between the 3070 and the 3080 in performance and be priced in that gap as well. Problem is Nvidia alr...

Why are you trying to push that Series X is as fast as an RTX2080Ti?

You're simply wrong. Digital Foundry have said, if you need any more authoritative source, that you're wrong. It's equal to an RTX2080 on raster performance. Other opinions of tech analysis that have compared the GPU specifications to what we know about the shading performance of RTX2000 series Series X is definitely not as fast as an RTX2080Ti.

RTX2080Ti also renders path tr...

Forza has done it for a decade now. This was a massive roadblock to the swift release of GT games on new generation hardware, allows Polyphony to focus more on the gaming and driving experience of the GT titles than just building car models all day.

I am sure Polyphony will still exercise strict control over the end result of the models. Early on perhaps they can apply finishing touches and polish themselves but soon enough they should get their expected standards met and a...

So not RTX2080Ti performance, then.

They emphasised that the code was two weeks work and Series X had other settings, but also that PC ran fixed resolution whereas the console versions including Series X almost certainly have dynamic resolution modes enabled to shore up performance and stabilise 60FPS, something PC can also do.

To that end their conclusion which was done in conjunction with Coalition demonstrating the versions showed that Series X had ba...

Digital Foundry did the comparison in depth here https://www.youtube.com/wat... and with their detailed like for like on settings and resolution and everything else, Xbox Series X was comparable to an RTX2080.

Not an RTX2080 Super, not an RTX2080Ti.

That's pretty good but it's a year old game, on two year old PC hardware about to be replaced. One week's time after...

Series S only has 10GB of memory. It'll be a roadblock to ports for this system. This will all strictly limit how good it can actually run proper next gen games with the kind of textures and effects you would otherwise expect.

I think you are even seeing developers point this out. It has 100GB/s less memory bandwidth than a 2017 Xbox One X and 2GB less total memory available. That's an enormous chunk.

I'm bypassing Xbox this generation and just heading straight for an RTX3080.

All the same games, but always better, for the whole life of that console. Game pass makes it more worthwhile to have a gaming PC instead of an Xbox, even of modest spec.

Sure a top end setup will cost a bunch more but it'll be well worth it. Microsoft are happy about this. They say they don't even care about Xbox hardware any more. It's all about the games as a s...

The RTX3070 alone has theoretically triple the ray tracing performance of xbox series X

Nvidia dropped the mic on ray tracing against the consoles.

3080 is crushingly fast though.

It'll obliterate either next gen console, especially with ray tracing enabled. Which is kind of the point.

It costs that much because it's that much faster.

"If you look at the slides they're comparing the RTX 3000 to the RTX 2000 specially when both GPUs are using Ray Tracing and DLSS"

Well ABizzel1 you need to get yourself over to Digital Foundry that provide comparable numbers with other games.

Borderlands 3 and Doom Eternal don't have ray tracing. Control numbers shown were both with ray tracing/DLSS and without. Still showed massive gains in excess of 80 percent @ native 4K for the form...

"It doesn’t matter if PC has faster SSDs or not because until it becomes the standard and every PC has one you’ll have to account for HDDs."

Firstly Microsoft have made it clear they are still supporting very old consoles with very old hard drives in them. That means every cross gen title designed for these platforms finds that a 7 year old Xbox One is the slowest machine, and that has to be taken into account for at least the first two years!

It's Zen 2 design as stated on the slides.

The CPU cache is definitely not unified. It's split pools for each 4 core cluster, clear as day on the die shot.

As predicted and expected CPU cache is also massively cut down over a desktop Ryzen part. 4MB x 2 for 8MB level 3 cache, an 8 core 3800x for example has 32MB of L3 cache.

This would suggest again as I have said elsewhere, it is a Renoir mobile design used which makes sense....

"After speaking to a few devs on twitter they have said XSX can our perform 2080ti when calculating RT"

Pure nonsense. Series X has 13 teraflops of ray tracing compute, an RTX2080 has 23 teraflops. The Ti has even more, naturally.

A 2080Ti also has more memory bandwidth dedicated solely to the GPU than Series X has to share around the entire system i.e CPU + sound + GPU + I/O.

If you have any more doubt look at how a Series X ...

PS5's raw performance disadvantage to Xbox Series X is probably less than 20 percent, which is a gap far smaller than the one between PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

I can't say that there are really any better looking games on One X than Sony's best games on PS4 Pro. Diminishing returns at this point, a lot more is in the hands and talent of the developer. It'll be insignificant.

Really we're in a post resolution world where you can just hav...

Gran Turismo isn't a sim. Not really. You can wall ride and grief with minimal punishment.

You must have never played a real racing simulator. Iracing is a sim. You would survive about two corners if you went in thinking you could get away with half the stuff you can get away with on GT.

Except at this point you hardly need a super spec PC to exceed base PS4 on this game, nor do you need anything particularly impressive to exceed PS4 Pro.

According to Steam stats, a very large percentage have the GPU performance to exceed PS4 and a significant number can better PS4 Pro.

PS4 runs the game 'medium to high' settings 1080p and 30FPS.

Anything better than a 1650 Super can manage 'very high' settings at 1080p ...
