At what point does this go from funny to sad
The US data that just came out for physical data in 2023 was:
>50% Switch
40% Playstation
<10% Xbox
The spread is probably higher in other countries due to cost/internet etc. I know in Australia for instance a physical game will often be 20-30AU$ cheaper than digital. Sony was still making a good chunk of change off physical based on the Insomniac leaks
The world isn't ready for all digital this decade
There are some important differences between PC and consoles.
There are no "generations" on PC. So stuff released 10-15 years ago is still playable. Theres no guarantee anything you buy digitally today on console will be downloadable/playable in 10-15 years, but I think this is unlikely.
On PC you have 3rd party options for storefronts. If a console maker goes all digital they have a total monopoly and control over pricing, dont even have to wor...
Jez is MS PR. His statement is already wishy washy enough to soften the blow when Avowed/Indiana Jones are digital only
What's crazy is COD still isnt even on GamePass yet. Not a single gamer has benefited from this acquisition yet (and honestly probably won't) and now 1900+ families are in financial hell
This is probably the best trailer for this game yet.
I really want more details on the Live Service aspect though. How will the microtransactions/monetization be
Usually no. They did allow Early Access for Temtem and I know of at least one other but can't seem to remember it.
Wonder if it will break PUBGs record
They're switching from seasons to operations. If anything they'll be pumping out more GaaS this way as instead of seasonal content every 4-6 months its operations every 4-6 weeks. Interested to see how this style of content works out. I don't like the concept of Battle Passes but Operations seem unique. (New content is free to play and unlock for a time then becomes B2P later)
The timing of the pivot is strange as the game has finally seemed to be hitting its s...
Its sales numbers so doesn't include GP. GP numbers would be "players" or a useless metric like number of bullets fired
They also released numbers for the entirety of 2023. The PS4 sold more software in Europe than the X/S
"In terms of platforms, PC was No.1 in terms of game sales, ahead of PS5 (No.2), Switch (No.3), PS4 (No.4) and Xbox Series S and X (No.5)"
Indiana Jones and the Pythagorean Theorem
This site is terrible at recognizing sarcasm
This is exactly the psychological part of our monkey brains that companies abuse with subscription models. Once you pay for it, its "free"
Once they port Skyrim to it they'll begin counting it as a console
"Who is this even made for?"
Day One releases on Xbox GrainPass, the best meal in gaming
Straight from their conference call: "Total gaming revenue in line with expectations due to stronger than expected performance from activision, with offsets from weaker than expected performance from the console market."
They are expecting about $300 million in revenue from consoles in Q1 2024. They are expecting to ship less than 1 million consoles globally for the next quarter
They got completely carried by ABK. Can easily see why they fought...
