It's been shown at every xbox show for the last 5 years but in the month leading up to release there has been radio silence. I'd argue most gamers don't even know it's coming out next week. It's #191 on Steam top sellers. Compare the marketing Hellblade is getting to Stellar Blade or even Rise of the Ronin.

I don't think the lack of marketing is due to Xbox's lack of faith in the game. It's due to them laying off their entire marketing team ...

The management at Deviation was reportedly a problem. Sony cut their funding and when the studio layoffs began they bought the talent back up

Most people on gaming forums say FIFA, NBA 2K, and Madden are trash too. Do you think they're lying too?

1) release controllers
2) don't release games

Uhh they wont have enough manpower at the remaining studios to do anything with that IP. At this rate they're gonna be left with Forza, Gears, Halo, COD, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls

You can't give your games away for free and then shut down studios when they don't sell. Extremely idiotic thinking

The problem is it did seem to hit their targets

MAUs make investors/shareholders happy

If in 3 months they can say PSN accounts are up 5 million they pop champagne

This was probably the most overrated game of 2023 that I played

Sony had a terrible showcase in 2023 and then proceeded to have one of their biggest years in console sales ever and outsold the Xbox Series 3 to 1. Calling this "Make or Break" is overly dramatic

According to Ampere, which tracks MAU, it had a daily peak user count of 2.21 million. So it's probably over 3 million by this point

The newzoo report they linked to even has data on Palworld. Pretty sure it is up to date

37d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

What's weird is their data (you can open the report as a PDF) shows Starfield as #8 on xbox and not in the top 10 at all for PC. Also TotK and Mario Wonder, among other games, are #2 and #3 on Switch. Their wording is very strange.

The issue is that the title suggests it reached top 10 overall across Xbox, PC, and PS5. The data clearly shows it was only in the top 10 on xbox. There is no overall top 10 in their report. Also Switch has TotK, Mario Wonder, etc. No idea why they don't count. Also, MAU data is collected by most countries so they just gathered it all together. I'd trust the numbers/data they're presenting

The PS3 tanked Sony and they recovered during the same generation. The Wii U tanked Nintendo and they delivered a record setting console only a few years later. At the launch of X1 it was keeping pace with the PS4 and in the US was occasionally beating it.

Yeah, if its not a 40/40 they basically think the game is average at best

That is some dedication. What are you even doing? I had 100% the grasslands by lvl 23 I think

FF13 was almost 15 years ago. Gaming trends have changed a ton since then, especially in Japan

Spiderman 2 was 43% lower than Spiderman 1 for week 1 UK physical sales. A 30% drop is actually not bad considering the rise of digital since 2020
