@jmc After the new drivers the 480 is much more efficient. If you look at the following test you will see real world numbers that show they are pretty much dead even and the 480 is way cheaper. Both are great cards but at 299 versus 239 I would say AMD is sitting pretty.

Microsoft actually hasn't fully copied but they took inspiration with Kinect.
Not only is AMD in the game, but they are in a really solid position. Regardless of the fact that they are not in the enthusiast market at all currently. As long as they release a card that surpasses the gtx 1080 before the end of the year they will be fine.

If I was building a pc right now definetely go intel with reverse hyperthreading (pick processor first, then go ram, hdd, graphic card last) can even use integrated graphics on cpu until your gpu go on sale...for 1080p even the rx 480 or gtx 1060 is overkill but also would be good for the foreseeable future. 4gb ram should handle...

I'm be waiting for AMD to release a competitive card and hopefully the Nvidia cards prices drop too. But yea, will pick up an AMD. I don't like Nvidia's tactics and/or marketshare.
@hallowedsoul1 That was true before. I agreed with you :) However, nowadays the enthusiasm of the console gamer might reach much higher. Especially to combat with how fast the PC market is growing. Personally I don't understand the need for expensive outdated unupgradable hardware. I would rather have a higher end PC and skip consoles if the affordable base model can't compete with the elite version in online multiplayer. The whole point of consoles up until now has been one model/one...

It isn't too wild at all. They gave a heads up to the consumer and are moving forward with a plan publicly like AMD have done. By the time Sony reveals the NEO specifications. Microsoft will probably be working on Xbox Scorpio S model. Awesome time to be a Xbox or PC gamer.
