During lauch week, my local virgin (store), HMV, and Game, were all desperately trying to drum up business.
The "Be part of the biggest ever launch" outside HMV was the biggest laugh.
Currently the PS3 stuff has been moved to the back of most shops.
The posters who keep going on about how well the PS3 is doing in the UK compared to the 360 obviously don't live here.
But if you paid Ferrari prices for a fiat, you'd be a bit unhappy would you not?
So you're saying its a good thing that programming for the PS3 is difficult as it will sort the men from the boys?
Meaning 90% of developers (EA for instance) will go for the easy option and dump the PS3.

Since when is it guarenteed that the PS3 will have a superior version. Certainly not based on whats happened so far is it!!

Yes, I read that nonsense. There is no such thing as a limitless games console. They might as well say that the PS3 can read your mind and turn into a pizza when you're hungry. It's about as accurate.

There are no shortages here. Just stores trying desperately to flog them by sticking signs up outside such as the "Be part of the biggest launch in history!" sign outside my local HMV.
Actually you don't develop for the most "Advanced". Usually you develop for the lower model as you then know that it will work on the more advanced model.
In this case though, its more about the fact that it is easier to develop around the PS3s complexity, as it will be easier to port to the xbox as it is more flexibile in this context.
The PS3s complexity doesn't in anyway mean that it is more advanced.
Yes this may be a serious problem for some, but at least 360s are being stress tested (playing games) by their owners rather than just collecting dust like most PS3s.
Considering how much Sony are losing on each box, perhaps the weak PS3 sales are a godsend for the shareholders. ;-)
You can't possibly say that Gears of War is going to be the best looking game ever on the 360.
Look at the PS2, it too years to get to games that look like God of War.
Its called progress, and I'm sure we'll see improvements on all the new consoles.

You’re right. Numbers don’t lie, but the reason the PS3 sold more in less time was simply due to the number of units available at launch.
How about a slightly different number to prove how pointless that figure really is. How about counting how many PS3 were sitting on shop shelves 3 months after launch compared to 360s or Wiis. 360s and Wiis Zero – PS3 Loads.
