I'm white, and when I seen the trailer to this game it never even occured to me that the hero was a white guy killing blacks. Guess I must be color blind or something, since at no point did I even make that connection. All I saw was a guy killing zombies in what appeared to be an impoverished area of some unspecified African country.

I think even the most hardcore 360 fans have to agree that MS dropped the ball on this one. Not including an HDD as standard is probably the worst decision made by the Xbox team.
I always thought MS made a huge mistake not including an HDD as standard. The things are so cheap, there's no reason not to.
As a 360 owner I have to admit, Microsoft have been ripping the consumer off with the price of their HDD's. I can buy a 60GB laptop HDD for £30 (about $50) and i'm sure MS can get them a lot cheaper than that. Profiteering is one thing, but when it starts depriving developers the tools they need to make great games, it's time to stop.
This can only be a good thing. I've never understood Microsoft's reluctance to give the developers what they want on this issue. They must have been calling for this for a while.

Could also have the opposite effect though, with developers now having the option of targeting HDD equipped 360's exclusively, should it prove necessary.
If I had my way, MS would just abolish the core system completely. I mean, how much can it really cost MS to include an HDD with the 360 when I can buy a 60 gig laptop HDD for £30. MS could probably get them for a third of that price and swallow the cost themselves without having to pass it onto the consumer.

I had reservations about the $50 a year too until I got online. Honestly, Live is an outstanding online service and worth every penny IMO. Wouldn't be surprised if MS does drop the charge eventually though, perhaps when the hardware reaches a mass market price level and they want to attract more people into joining the network. After all, Live Marketplace is a big money spinner for MS and they may be concerned about people not being inclined to connect their 360's to the network at all withou...

Though I must admit, I was initially disappointed with Halo 2, for about 20 minutes. It was the starting aboard the ship with all the industrial design and corridors that deterred me initially. But as soon as I was through the first level the game really drew me in and was great all the way from then on.

It's actually cheaper to buy the cards than it is to pay via credit card online. I think MS charge £40 online, yet I can buy a one year subscription card for £35 in town.
Also Violater, you could go to Xbox.com and create your free silver account right now if you like. It's much easier than signing up using the 360. Then when you do get your gold scratch card, just enter the number to upgrade your account status to gold.
I can't comment on the controller issue as I don't own a PS3, yet. But to say:

That's simply not true. The GTA games on Xbox matched their PS2 counterparts in every coneivable way. In fact, it's common knowledge that the games incorporated numerous graphical improvements on the Xbox, and having seen the games running on both platforms I can confirm that is definitely the case.

Prove me wrong by giving me your Live gamertag and allowing me to view your list of played games and i'll appologize. But I don't believe you've played Forza 2. If you had, you would realize how crazy your comments are about the controls.
Do I think Forza is perfect? Hell no, not even close. GT5 probably will prove to be better, but right now, Forza 2 is king. No last gen racer even comes close in terms of physics and control.
If you prefer GT4 for the extra cars...
