When it comes to online services, Nintendo are idiots and woefully inept. It's always been that way.
The director of the series said that they shopped the IP around to both Nintendo and Microsoft and neither of them were interested, so they went with Sony. Now the games are slowly coming to PC as well. I don't blame them for it.
Not really fundamentally impossible. Several emulators today allow people to play any game that had local multiplayer across the internet with ease. Dolphin is notable for this. The PS classic is nothing more than an "official" Sony emulator inside a fancy chassis. They could've done it if they wanted to.

This review makes no sense. ZOE2 gets a 5/10? Even by today's standards it's not average, it's well above it. It controls well, it's fast and fluid, has a decent story, looks great. Was this guy just terrible at it because he didn't realize the game's combat actually requires a modicum of strategy to excel at? Every fan I've interacted with who played it loved it, especially the VR implementation. Oh well.
It's a crime how we never got a sequel because of Sony axeing the studio. They could've really made a topitier sequel if given the chance. At least DC itself still holds up incredibly well.
TimeSplitters Future Perfect literally had 150 characters to choose from in multiplayer/arcade mode. Today it would release with 15 and the other 100+ would all be MTX

Start with Yakuza Zero. Chronologically it's the beginning of the story (Kiryu's story anyway) and a great entry point to the series.
