Performance will only get better it might only take a little bit of extra time.
Secret sauce not really, giving developers more or better tools to develop to the bone of the systems very likely.
Since they are comparing it to the 360 its likely referring to tools used to better manage the edram buffering in the 360 or in this case buffering tools for the esram in the xb1.
True 3 days ago there where reports of xb1 not being as sold out of the day 1 editions as much as the ps4 in New York.
At this moment neither of the consoles are sold out as they are both stocked for black Friday.
Maybe this particular walmarkt received only 6 ps4 compared to 24 xb1 stock units for black friday because they will receive more units in the last minute or because sony allocated a larger number of PS4 units to europe.
They have found a few possible fixes for the sound. Its surprising that there is so much focus on the xb1 problems.
While the ps4 also seemed to had a few sound problems no separate articles have appeared focusing in single problems which at the moment do not seem mass problems.
for the uk gamers wondering why they can still log into xbox live, purchase and content usage and social and gaming functions are apparently 'unavailable'. Xbox core service is still up and running, for details on which uk services are running check:

some uk services are running
Is lot of confusing information out there. They said the xb1 would be 10x more powerfull than the 360. While claiming the cloud could provide 3x the power of the xb1.

With the xb360 they did try to enforce a resolution requirement of 720p in the end they dropped that requirement. It might be better to let devs decide the trade-off between resolution and image quality.
too be fair thats also what sony said. It is not really possible to make an estimate within the first weeks.
On the positive side it seems like there isn't a fundamental problem with the xb1 like with the soldering on the motherboard of the first 360.
Basicly most reports have been problems with the blue ray drive, not sure what brand blue ray drives Microsoft are using but pretty sure it's a pretty standard blue ray drive.
Guys guys while you are arguing about 900p and 1080p you should be playing super mario 3d world.
Kinda misleading. This concerns the audio comming from the cale box into the xb1 which was in beta when tested by kotaku (source used by spawnfirst.com), which also noted.
"Microsoft assures us that a non-beta option for surround audio throughput is coming, but it won't be there at launch"
Seems like next gen uses large chips. Thought xb1 was chip was larger. Looked it up xb1 chip is 363mm vs ps4 350mm.
These compared to Intel’s Core i7 4770K “Haswell” 177mm means next gen chips are pretty big.
The system also seems to make less noise . Not sure if that is solely due to larger fan or settings of their fan (not spinning faster within that temp range).
Seems like this generation is all about week afer and day 1 patches and downloads not too happy with that.
On the indie part, Microsoft mentioned that they would treat all games in the same manner, by not seperating the marketplace or something
Xb1 games are underperforming esspecially for a 100$ more expansive console. Still I find it a promosing start, with its os exclusive titles and showpieces such as ryse which are showing what's already possible on the system.
Not only weapons:
"Enjoy all 4 episodes of the untold stories of Los Perdidos including over 20 weapons, 4 new vehicles and 4 new playable characters with all new stories."
Will have to wait and see, they did say: “I don’t see a major power difference. The memory is very different but I already said that before. Pure computation power, if you just measure that, there’s no major difference.
Both new consoles are like PCs anyway"
Hope the console version will come ass close as possible to the pc version with all settings on.
