Can smell it a mile away. Microsoft's PR guys are giggling at you now.
Simply LOOK AT THE PHUCKIN SALES RESULTS!!
If you are NOT The Sims, Blizzard or Facebook games - the PC market for traditional games are absolutely freaking DEAD DEAD DEAD.
Take one look at any PC sales report for either America or Europe and even a monkey can see why no console developer [or lapsed PC developer] is bothering with the PC sku.
The biggest game on the PC of all 2009, Modern Warfare 2, sold just 170k copies!!!! Compare that to 6m copies on console and VO...
Sony's lack of a coherent marketing or PR strategy is now globally famous. They literally sent Insomniac's last games to DIE, and even with Uncharted 2 the grass roots build up was a disaster.
They need to hire the guys from MS or Ubi - they simply do not understand fundamental marketing principles for their best titles.
Poor devs
Sony 1st party products NEVER EVER EVER make money enough to break financially even.
Go ask Insomniac employees how their bonus pool is looking these days!
Sony couldn't market their ass to a toilet. Hello PSP Go? Hello PSN? Hello PS Home? Hello UMD strategy? Hello Downloadable Movies [THEY OWN A MOVIE STUDIO and Microsoft beat them still!] Hello PSP Minis?
The list continues...
if you want a bonus at the end of a project, you can guarantee Sony's lack of marketing for Insomniac games will ensure a big fat zero in your paycheck.
Ratchet and Clank has sold a grand total of 300k units globally.
:-(
Given the cost of the developer and the massive 5 year spend, in this economy there is simply no way this game will ever turn a profit - let alone break even at the 2m units mark.
Ask Dragon Age :-)
Atlas just need another 1.7m units to break even financially and they are in great shape!
;-)
this is nothing but a horror story, it's not anything to be proud of lol.
Ok I love these two fellas - but they simply are barking up the wrong tree.
If the mom and pop store DID break the street date on the hottest game of 2009, then THAT'S THEIR FREAKIN FAULT AND THEY DESERVE THE CONSEQUENCES.
Gamestop did nothing that any other retailer - big or small, wouldn't have done in the same situation. Period. Full Stop. The End.
Whatever you feel about Gamestop, mom and pop broke the agreement with Activision and simply got caught. End of story.
PS3Hype, as a blog, pretty much the name tells us that this guy is a drooling fanboy who MAY have just hit puberty.
Second, 1m units over 2 weeks is absolutely atrocious for the highest rated game like 'ever'. Especially when Halo ODST did 2m in TWO DAYS.
Come on fanboys - admit it, this is a horrendous result considering the competition and the competitions far superior marketing efforts.
You see even saw Brutal Legend on Jimmy Fallon! Where has Uncharted 2 been besides met...
- Little Big Planet was a totally missed opportunity in terms of supporting with a TRUE mass market campaign. once again - they sell only to the converted. FAIL.
- Killzone 2 - was 1 year late - went way over budget and resulted in a very small global mktg campaign and sold terribly. FAIL
- Firmware updates that are either not marketed, implemented in painful ways or provide useless features such as 'multi text chat rooms'. FAIL
- Sony Home - enough said. [in development for...
What an epic fail of a 'review'.
Best action game of 09 hands down for me
Best open world game this year hands down. 8.5 on Gamespot, 8.6 on Gametrailers.
I just beat every mission today and it was worth the $60 I saved.
wicked game
Infamous simply gets extremely repetitive about half way.
But I just prefer the action in Proto!
Both games are awesome but Proto just PWNS in terms of action and fun.
Bloggers suck lol.
The game is epic - if you love action there is no reason you shouldn't own this bad boy.
nice hat though lol.
I finished Infamous and trust me, it's almost impossible to even play Infamous after you've experienced Proto.
It's literally a beast of a game dudes, just buy it and have a blast.
But like every other pitiful marketing and PR effort from Sony, they are absolutely cutting their own necks.
Every asset you release, every video you make - becomes essentially a spreadable tool of influence across millions of eyeballs. Youtube, Gametrailers, Blogs, Facebook - why deny your biggest ambassadors the assets they need to go and do your marketing for you?
Why not let the biggest god of war fan infect every one of his 300 facebook friends with a great video [non...
