Well, that's a rather clownish review. Providing performance options is bad? I knew as soon as i read that, that this guy was just looking to cause a stir. To say the game looks flat in performance RT mode is a bizarre opinion.
I'd never heard of this guy, but he's obviously more of a trollish commentator just looking for clicks.
It still has a pathetic end game and feels like a game made 10 years ago. I should know, i played plenty of it, but they drove me away with having nothing to do anymore.
Ahh bummer, I have zero interest in Deathloop. Just looks like a 70s Dishonored. Didn't like Dishonored or Prey either.
Hopefully see more of Kena, Little Devil Inside and Stray at least.

Gears has become a pretty tired franchise.

Time to move the franchise onto a different studio.
Decide for yourself. Get them day one or wait for a sale. No one is being forced to buy them.
I've paid full price for Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, Returnal and Ratchet & Clank. Didn't regret any of those purchases. Returnal is my current game of the year.
Until game streaming is uninterrupted 4K 60fps with no input lag, no thanks.
The thing that killed it for me to the point I couldn't finish it was the absolutely terrible controls/input lag. By the time i got to the prison island, i just couldn't stand it anymore. Just like GTA. It's like Rockstar just can't get their heads around good, smooth controls.
Not counting the first party stuff that's years away and we've seen absolutely nothing of in terms of game play (Avowed, Fable, Perfect Dark), there's not really a lot there for me unfortunately. A lot of indie/filler type stuff that I'm just not into.
Really only The Ascent has me interested from the third party stuff. Stalker 2 I'm interested in, but again, we've seen some pre rendered bits and nothing else. Very slow start this gen for Xbox. I'...
And that's why game reviews are subjective. It comes down to your personal tastes. It's good if you can find a reviewer that seems to often have the same tastes as you, makes it easier to get a good sense from reviews.
Having said that, a lot of people have the same problems with this game, such as a big open world with nothing to do. I find it hard to believe this many people are way off the mark.

I think it would depend how much Nintendo make out of the subscription. A lot of people might stop buying games through the Switch store etc if they have a big catalogue of games they haven't played on game pass. Can't see how that's good for Nintendo?

The value of game pass to an individual consumer is subjective. I have game pass as part of the Series X All Access deal and barely use it.
