It looks to be saying that people within the marketing and PR industry don't agree with MS's method of advertising and reaching out to new users. Richard Rasala seems to feel that any success MS has had in marketing was purely accidental, and question whether or not they could actually be successful by design.
The second quote was from the publishing head of The Economist, Andrew Rashbass. Even the article mentioned a possible notion of self-interest. At any rate, here's t...
These may be old to you, but they seem to be new to everyone else. I think these were only just put up on Halo3.com.
These are weekly sales guys, they fluctuate, if they released daily sales you'd never sleep. There's nothing to see here folks, in two months you'll be arguing over the same 5 or 6 digits if you don't stop arguing over them now. Are their sales down? Yes, they are. Will Sony fail? That cannot be answered by any numbers on that chart, so why argue about it? GBA sales are lookin' decent, I wonder how US GBA sales are doing.
I'd say the skill is in driving at 140mph only meters away from 6 other cars. Being surrounded on a track and still having to maintain a solid line AND top speed isn't easy. Having to weave and dodge through a group of cars on a narrow short track is an awesome feeling, as is drafting and passing on the last lap of the race or getting a bump from your buddy to help you across the line. It's also one of the few forms of racing to support and allow real teamwork between drivers.
Where is TheMart to tell us these games suck? Seriously tho, both lists look great, it's going to be a great generation if the quaility can be maintained across both 360 and PS3 titles.

^^Yeah, the above line is right above:

It was also the cover story for the March 2007 EGM, same pic of a tomato splattered PS3. That means it came out in late Feb I think, and so yeah, it's an old article.
The real test is the next few years, not weeks or months, years.
You sir speak the truth
This is because Fong and Tam tried to screw over Activision. This has nothing to do with Rock Band or anything MTV has said or done. This is purely between Activision/Red Octane and Fong/Tam. It's in the article folks.
Hunting fanboys? There is more to life than consoles and bubbles man. I really hope you were joking.
This game reminds me of Star Wars Battlefront in the best possible ways.
How is this Sony's fault?
Perhaps now we can stop reading news stories about PS3 Elite.
If they can roll it out and get us using it then we all win. How the hell can we turn medical research into a fanboy argument? Is there nothing that we can agree on?
I hope the conversion doesn't muddy the picture, but I think this would be a good move for MS. Even if it's a product of ignorance in the marketplace, if MS can't educate the people then they should placate them.
Honestly, ask yourselves this: How will you people react when UT3 comes out on PS3 and 360 looking identical? Gears doesn't look fantastic because of some 360 voodoo, it looks great because of the Unreal3 engine. An engine that was debuted on both 360 and PS3 lookin' mighty fine (as well as identical). So while Resistance has the breadth that Gears doesn't, Gears has the details that Resistance doesn't. It's not a system thing, it's just comes down to the scope of the game and the engin...
I rememeber that the top selling 360 game this time last year was COD2 wasn't it? A shooter? This is a good thing for the PS3, as COD2 was for 360. Let it go.
As for Gears, the 360 has been out a year and some change, of course they'll be able to see more units of a game than PS3. Just look at how well Madden does on PS2 every year, it sells well on all platforms, but it sells the most on the platform with the most users, the PS2.
Out of curiousity Rasulis, how is the PS3 very similar to the PS2? In terms of a gaming platform, I suppose, but other than that, how?
Quite nice, this will be mine.
He's probably just a Tekken fan. Even though VF is on 360, it won't have proper online play. I doubt anything but FIOS would really be able to handle the absolute precision needed in most tournament valid fighters.
Take DOA, multiplayer was pretty poor whenever I tried it, so online isn't all it's cracked up to be in a fighting game.
