Before you go on about the different SKUs. You might want to look at the 360's version that have been ADDED to the 360 since launch. The 360 still doesn't come with built-in wireless. The HDMI 1.2 has been added afterwards since component 1080p wasn't good enough (not enough bandwidth). Sony taking about 1080p was for good reason. They HAD HDMI 1.3 from the START. The different SKUs you talk about are removing BC, USB and card readers to cut cost. The core features are still there. Cell/RSX, ...

The Cell does not process "PS2 upscaling, DVD upscaling, or 24fps" while playing PS3 games. Sorry, but you have fooled yourself and are spreading untruths.
This is the same for BD movies that are in 60fps. The 24fps or DVD upscaling settings do not go active unless the content/disc supports it. So, PS3 games does not activate any one of those feature you mentioned. Sorry.
Never underestimate what the Japan devs can do with the software emulation.
Beautiful Katamari and Vivia Pinta are two examples of 360 games that will die on the vine. The demographics of the 360 (14 year old, Halo, immature xbox live users) just don't like those type of games. And Sony fans (and most Japanese gamers) just don't want to be around those type of adolescents.
It's like trying to force 360 gamers to like JRPGs. It just doesn't jive with the jar-head Gears types.
It's the old game rankings the reason that some thought it would be a 8.0 title. This was AFTER reading about the pre-release for Eurogamer (July/2007) and Computer & Video Games UK (July/2007) most decided to wait for the FULL Game. That's what I was thinking... in that it was going to get an 7.5- 8.0. But I didn't care. I like these RPGs anyways. Some predicted it would get a 8.5-8.8. They came close. But I'd figure that R&C would have a higher chance of getting a 9.0 since it has a large following and Insomniac went back to their roots and brought back the old "Silly" Ratchet character (not the dark one from last time).
