@darkride:
Check my post earlier. Again, I'm missing your train of thought. If you cut price to maintain market share, and the plan succeeds, you SHOULD expect to earn less on every dollar you invest. What part of that equation is difficult to understand? What is there to explain? It's just strategy.
@darkride:
What point are you trying to make? Yes, they netted less on a higher gross. That tends to happen when you cut prices. Even a kid running a lemonade stand can figure that out. MS sacrificed profit to maintain market share. It was deliberate. They achieved what they set out to do. And they are still in the black. So what is wrong with that picture?
And since you brought up Sony's performance during the same quarter, let's make sure we get this straight. ...
Your comments are sexist but, unfortunately, accurate. I'm afraid I have to agree with you. Girls don't have the testosterone driven psychology of guys and it tends to show up in the way they game. Girls have done the same things to me and it pisses me off no less. But let me say that a lot of guys do it too and they have no excuse (sexist back at ya).
@ girl gamer, I drop by your site occasionally to check it out, and I think you're doing great, so keep it up. But my whole thi...
Fuuuuunny, very funny. Your username ends in dong. Very appropriate.
graphic whore:
You are a living, breathing trd. People don't realize that big corporations aren't the only ones that suffer from piracy. Small outfits, struggling artists and other creative individuals suffer the most because they are least able to absorb piracy losses. Perhaps someday when you create something original in the hope of earning a living from it, only to have somebody take it for free, then maybe YOU will understand. But that doesn't look likely because you don't ...
Guys, try to learn something from this.
A few more educated posters tried to point this out already, but a lot of you (particularly you Sony fans) are incredibly dense, so it's worth repeating this fact:
THESE FIGURES REFER ONLY TO THE FOURTH QUARTER!!!
Are you guys so stupid that you can't get that? A quarter is three months. In Take-Two's fiscal year, the fourth quarter is made up of August, September and October. ONLY. These numbers have nothing...
If you have a launch model, use it as often as possible to break it sooner, not later. If it's going to break, it's better to get it done and over with early.
Now that HD-DVD is dead as a commercial format, it would make the ideal medium for console games. There will be no HD-DVD burners, so console games on HD-DVD will be more difficult, if not impossible, to pirate on a large scale.
Don't laugh. I still have my Pioneer CL-D705. At least that model flips the disc for you. And Pioneer supported the format until just maybe 2-3 years ago.
There is a reason a product that is in short supply is made available online only. The online retailing operation serves the entire USA, while the individual stores are able to serve only the immediately surrounding area. By keeping limited stock online, Best Buy is able to more quickly and profitably distribute the few units it gets by avoiding the cost and inefficiency that usually results from trucking too many units to some stores and too few to others. That some 360 skus are only awailab...
The Best Buy link says it's not available for in-store pick up, and the Elite and Premium SKUs are out of stock in stores. These are available on-line only.
I usually do all my online shopping for my computer-related stuff at Newegg. Not always the cheapest, but the service is topnotch. But recently they too have been short on Elites. http://www.newegg.com/Produ...

@ mikeslemonade:
I'm typing this out because I don't like to phantom disagree. I've read this same comment from you several times so I don't doubt that you honestly believe it. But I don't think it's true, and saying it over and over isn't going to persuade anybody who didn't believe you the first time. Show some solid evidence that multi-platform development forced compromises that lowered the quality of this game. Talk about features that had to be cut or reduced because the ...
I think you're absolutely right on all points. The 360's line-up isn't lame by any stretch. It just pales in comparison with the PS3's 2008 roster so far, and worse, with its own 2007 release list. It gives the impression of coasting or winding down just as the PS3 is up and coming.
I don't care much for MS, but just imagine what an awesome year in gaming 2008 will be if the 360 actually has an answer for everything the PS3 throws at it. It's not looking that way but one can al...
MS needs all the good original IPs it can get its hands on to combat Sony's momentum this year. It has a hard enough time coming up with new hit franchises that it can't afford to allow what few proven exclusives it has to lie dormant. Having something like Crackdown II in the freezer would have been understandable if MS had a whole bunch of other pots cooking, but at this point we've heard of only four big exclusives on the 360 this year, and only one of them is actually an internal develop...
Take Two just rejected EA's offer. This deal aint happening unless EA goes hostile.
If Kaz had been at the wheel at the time, GTA IV would have remained a Playstation oriented franchise. For those of you who continue to argue that this does not affect the PS3, just imagine how much rougher 2008 would have been for the 360 if MS did not have this extra content to crow about.
Fun's fun but you just went waaay over the line with that one.
Nuff said.
@ sak500:
I couldn't help it anymore so I just have to say it. I had a bunch of girlfriends over one night and we went through morganfell's post history together, so I've confirmed that it's not just me:
morganfell is creepy in that disturbing, repulsive sort of way.
We all felt that he couldn't possibly be serious because the stuff he says is so consistently stupid nobody could possibly mean it for real. And yet his crap is sooo not funny at all,...
