I admit MGS2 did do a lot for the ps2. But the game that REALLY put the ps2 over the top was Grand Theft Auto 3....that game was an atomic bomb on the industry. Bigger than MGS2.
But yeah, MGS4 will have an positive effect on ps3 sales but I don't think it will have as big an effect as GTA3 had on the ps2.
I think what a lot of people are missing here (and not mentioned in the article i think) is that Sony made a white 40gb ps3 bundle with DW6.
So the combination of white ps3 + cheaper sku + DW6 = skyrocket in sales.

I think Sony will still offer 2 SKU's (one with BC) for the bigger markets, namely for the US and Japan. And only the 40gb for the smaller markets (smaller European countries, etc).
This interview was with a South African newspaper right? That's definately a small market.

I wish IGN or Gametrailers would do a video review of this game. I think it would be fun to watch. I know this is sort of a 2nd-tier title but still.
Gamespot needs to create an Xbox 'team' that reviews Xbox 360 games, a Playstation 'team', etc. Just like how IGN does it. Its a system that prevents a reviewer with an Xbox bias (in this case Ryan Davis) from reviewing a PS3 game.
No way, the Xbox 360 is the hottest thing on the block....literally. Cold and Xbox 360 do not belong in the same sentence together.

I don't know about the new Falcon systems but the failure rate of the Xbox 360 was about 30%, not 14%. Which is god aweful.
