A ton of PC players are facing issues. Even the configuration you mentioned is pretty solid but you are not getting a locked 60fps. Compare that to the X1 which almost has a locked 30fps, it makes the console version experience far more better. Plus there are very few differences between PC and X1, making Remedy's work on the X1 really surprising.
One cannot deny that he made a big impact on third person shooters with the original Gears of War. For its time, it was unlike anything out there.

I think Oculus and Vive are not "only" going to be used for gaming apps. They may have uses outside of the entertainment medium so they may appeal to a different base all together.
PSVR is all about games. I just hope they will support it well unlike the Kinect which got a really poor line up of games.
I know this is probably a unpopular opinion, I wished Sony would have launched a PSVR + Camera bundle only. Some players already have a Move. Just wondering whether they will have one later this year.

I think the main advantage that PSVR has is that it will already have a 40 odd million PS4 base by October so even if theoretically speaking 5% of that base buys a PSVR, we are talking about 2 million units sold at launch which is simply phenomenal.
I am pretty sure Oculus and Vive won't do those numbers at launch.

Sorry for going out of topic but it's your opinion and I respect that. But "one of the worst" gaming sites should not ideally have over 600 interviews from leading developers, publishers, middleware solutions etc. Nor they should have over 1000s of video game reviews and neither their reviews, news items, hands on impressions etc should be read by the millions who visit the site.

I personally think that gaming apps for Hololens and an evolved Xbox One with better specs (unlikely, I know) could bring them right into the game.
But at this point their entire focus is on X1 and W10 as a single platform.
I am pretty sure there are DX12 games out there with benchmarks but as expected the results are not evident right await. It will take some time.
PS4.5 or whatever it's going to be called sounds great as an idea but the implications could vary.
If Sony is going to launch it, then it will probably be expensive and it can potentially divide the user base. It's a great idea on paper but there are lot of issues from business models, game development etc. Imagine Naughty Dog developing Uncharted 4 to two sets of hardware.
