Sennheiser are quality - I bought some CX500 earbuds for my ipod about a month ago and now I think I need to replace my Creative speakers, a new bar has been set for me.

I also have to agree with Robin, the timers are so key to the map's balance that removing them really screws with outcome of a match. It can work fine with certain custom maps, but for the valve created ones it usually doesn't work.

I approve - It's news to me ^.^

Nice, it could be a lot of fun if implemented correctly, probably not the best for 1st person shooters, but it would definitely have a place (placing tricky objects in Gary's mod definitely comes to mind). They just need to develop one of those drunk-tests where you need to move a loop around a wire without touching the edge.

I think our dental school was looking into these, with the idea being that you could practice drilling cavity preparations at home or in a computer suite an...

I think companies generally loose money on the price of a console (at least at the time of release) with the intention of making the money back on game sales, which need to be increased to account for this. I suppose that's why PC games tend to be cheaper (no need to offset the cost of the hardware)

....and therefore obviously most capable of making the *GREATEST BROWSER OF ALL TIME*

...well one would think :(

what issues exactly?

So do we trust an article that doesn't use correct grammar and spelling? It all sounds like a bit of a joke to me.

SCFreelancer - yeah that's pretty much it atm, having said that the way everything slots together and runs around is pretty cool in itself. The full game will kind of incorporated it into an RTS

Gee, bit harsh - It looks better on medium than just about any other game on high and does it on modest enough hardware. Very high settings are really just for future proofing.
Now a game like Assassins Creed is poorly optimised

GIJeff said he's running on high rather than very high.

"Google points out (PDF) that Australians are already one of the most "managed" countries in the world, with average broadband caps of 14.75GB per month"

I'm pretty surprised that the average cap is that high, most telco's seem to advertise 256k connections with 1gb caps, I mean there's a few decent plans out there, but I think there's a disproportionately high number of s**t ones.

Here's hoping they pull it off!

Aging ain't that bad when all is considered

On the down side: balding, loss of eye sight, liver spots, loss of physical fitness and appearance, increased chance of most diseases etc.
On the plus side: CAKE!!!

I think the choice is obvious ^.^

...it got up to 650mb near the end, which seems a tad high imho, though I guess if you're not running too many things at the same time it should be alright.

haha - well spotted, another article blowing things out of proportion!

Cheers for that, a good read indeed.
I also reckon that Opera is much better straight off the bat, and has some very innovative and useful features, but I think I keep coming back to Firefox because of it's customisability - many of Opera's functions can be had through extensions, and often these can be better than the Opera originals (ie speed dial).
Major props to Opera for doing what it does though - I tend to use it a lot on my laptop, just because it works *alsost* exactly ho...

odd choice of cards given all the new stuff that's coming out

yeah, nice convo - good arguments on both sides. I still can't say I'm too big a fan of what they're planning to do to mass effect though.

The article tested speed only.
Overall results were (approximately)
Safari-2.6 (but longer start up time)
Opera-2.75 (failed a java-heavy test page)
Firefox-3.4 (authors said there was no visible diff. and convenience of awesome bar would likely outweigh extra loading time)
IE7-4.1

It all sounded a tad firefox biased to me - "Firefox got fairly beaten in our tests but is clearly better because...." type of thing.
Not that I disagree (I u...

haha - nice spotting, I guess on the bright side it's *the* easiest component to upgrade. Still, for the price you'd kinda expect better.
