Thanks for the tip on AC. Looks very good, looking forward to hearing more about it.

You are right, I have done exactly that.

I have hooked up my PC to my 55 inch TV and I have both a PS3 controller and an X360 controller that I use with my PC.

Steam even has a Big Picture mode that is easily navigated with controllers. I do all my gaming on the couch with a console controller.

I agree with you for the most part. But consider that even Sony first party titles render at 720p often with lower res effects, low res textures and sometimes even struggle to maintain 30 frames per second.

I'm hoping to see a big jump in texture quality, resolution, and frame rate, at least matching medium+ spec PC.

After I switched from console to PC I could start playing first person shooters again, on console I got dizzy and nauseated. I guess it was ...

The 4GB of GDDR5 RAM are for both OS and graphics. According to the article; 512MB for OS and 3.5GB graphics and game code.

Remember a PC game often has a recommended requirement of 4GB System RAM and 1-2 GB video.

Consoles games are though optimized for the specific hardware and should perform better on console than on comparable PC hardware.

Interesting from an article from 27. May 2012.

"The Pitcairn core is fairly small, occupying 212mm2 of area. Compare that with the 240mm2 of the RSX in the launch version of the PlayStation 3 and the 180mm2 of the Xbox 360's original 90nm Xenos GPU and we have a ballpark match. Of more interest is power consumption: at full tilt, the 7970M sucks up around 65 watts of power. That's not going to be especially good news for a laptop running on battery power alone, b...

I already got I good PC a couple of weeks ago, and I do all my PC gaming in the living room on a 55 inch screen with my PS3 controller :D

Right now I'm playing Darks Souls on PC and I pre-ordered DMC5 on Steam.

If you have a decent PC, in my opinion this is a no-brainer. 1080p 60fps (and higher) is so much better than the console alternative.

Lot's of rumors, anyway even when the specs are official they don't mean much. Just look at how Sony bragged about the PS3 having amazing power and I quote "CPU twice as fast as the CPU in the Xbox 360" and "RSX gives movie quality games". What did this mean in real life performance, nothing, they're about on par performance wise. You can disagree all you want, google it, this is what Sony said at their E3 press conference.

Anyway, I'm stil...

I would like to hear more about that Autodidacdystopia.

These comparison videos are massively stupid. They don't show anything.

How can a compressed video running at 30fps compare console to PC, when PC is running maybe at 60 fps ++ and 1080?

How can you tell the difference in resolution, texture quality, smothness,etc. when the video IGN posts is shit?

Stopp it with these videos, they're meaningless.

4145d ago 4 agree0 disagreeView comment

I can see a marked difference between 60 and 40 fps. I've tested on my PC locking the frame rate to different settings on a couple of games and 60 fps is by far the smoothest and best experience to me. I do don't know how it is above 60 since my display maxes out at 60.

Edit: The difference is especially notable with horizontal movement (x-axis)

Me too. I pre-ordered it on Steam now! :-)

@dedicatedtogamers

Well said.

Sony should focus on delivering good gaming experiences. They should not repeat all the stupid hype that surrounded the PS3 before launch. Dual 1080p 120fps games, hyping meaningless specifications like the Cell being 2 times faster than the Xbox 360 processor, showing pre-rendered graphics claiming it to be all done by the Cell processor, RSX giving movie quality graphics etc. etc.. all this hype and bs that was never delivered ...

@Gumtrol

I agree with you 100%.

The sad part is that PlayStation fanboys think PS4 will be über powerfull and run all games in 1080p/60fps and 4K/30fps. Just like they thought PS3 would run dual screen 1080p games, they're still gullible and living in a fantasy.

To be able to run complex games with high quality rendering, and lots of gfx effects you need a beast of a GPU, something the PS4 will absolutely not have. I mean a GTX680 al...

@Muerte

You are out of your mind.

I think it's safe to expect PS4/X720 to run games at 720p(60fps) and 1080p(30fps) for the most part, but of course with exceptions where some 1080p games will run at 60fps. 4K games is utopia (unless it's Styx or Solitaire).

@hesido

I'm pretty sure you can forget 1080p 60fps on complex game types like Skyrim, GTA, etc..

4151d ago 6 agree11 disagreeView comment

You're forgetting one very important part here. Frame rate, 30 fps to me doesn't cut it. Anything less than 60 fps on a first person shooter or a racing game kills the game for me. The experience is totally different, 30 fps gives me a head-ache. I hope the PS4/720 jumps to 60 fps, I hate the 30fps stutter-fest.

I agree with you, the right thing is to release TLG for PS4, I don't think I'll even be interested anymore if it releases for the PS3 later 2013 or early 2014.

Bring it! PS4: Gran Turismo 6 and The Last Guardian! Would be awesome. If not, I would love to see these beautiful games on PC, but guess that won't be happening too soon.

4154d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's not completely true.

On PC you actually have a choice to choose between:

- Enable Vsync
- Disable Vsync and uncap your frames
- Disable Vsync and cap fps slightly above or below monitor refresh
- Disable Vsync but cap fps to your monitor's refresh.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe you have the GTX690 card. With a card like this most games would not suffer from awful screen tearing, running without...

After I bought a new gaming PC last year I realized how antiquated and slow the consoles are (X360 and PS3). Low-res textures, low resolution, extremely bad frame-rates (most games struggle to maintain even 30 fps.), low quality rendering, slow load times, very limited functionality, and the list goes on, etc.

The good thing about PS3 is that it has some very good exclusives, and it's cheaper than a good gaming PC, this is what saves it.
