I think Square could learn a lot from the smaller companies not blinded by the dollars as much - Atlus, Nippon Ichi etc.
I think in order to keep up their high-budget games, all their major titles need to be multiplatform from now on, but that needs to be planned from the start and not thrust upon the team at a late point in development ala FF13.
With the way FF has changed over the years, though, and how recent entries have split the fanbase, they could really do with a strong voice to represent them in the fan community.
I dunno. Versus is a whole new world; most of the assets for this could be in place already.
They sure spent a long time on that lore, to be fair to them. We could certainly see more of it.
Doubtful. There's been a lot of well-grounded speculation that the FF13 team started working on a quick sequel using the same assets recently, though.
Very cheap for them to make another XIII using the same engine, environments, enemies etc. Easy way to save money.
"bosses moved deadline forward by eight months. Producer on Suisicde watch."
Poor Tanaka :(
Disasterous launch. There's a good game somewhere under all that rubble, though.
Seems like the Eidos side of SE is the side that is putting out the great stuff in 2011. Great stuff that's not on PSP, anyway.
What's better, Ninjas or Sony?
For me 2011 is all about Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3. hell yeah.
Probably just a (hilarious) mispost. That said... what do 4 games that aren't even out yet have to do with Edge's awards? it's best publisher in 2010, surely?
Ahh, one dark spot in an otherwise good cast in FF13, I think..
Gets worse and worse for piracy on the PSP. Poor machine. Hope the PSP 2 is better piracy protected.
Very cool imagery there. Nice sense of style.
It definitely would've made a great PS3 game, or even a Wii game. I don't think anything was lost by it being on PSP, though.
Black and White will totally be a contender for the western 2011 DS GOTY I bet.
Golden Sun is great, but it's very formulaic... I don't think it does anything new, whereas at least DQ9 has the customization stuff and the WiFi stuff.
Surely it's better to sell, like - 5 million on PS3 and 2.5 million on 360 than just 6 million on PS3? Right?
I just want Square Enix to find their feet and be successful and make good games again, and if that requires them to be multiplatform, so be it... I'll just make sure I play whichever version of the game is most superior - like FF13 on the PS3.
