I love how people are citing IDC. No one in this forums knew about IDC until a the PS3 forecast. It is a FORECAST, not a fact. Xbox is still ahead by at least 1.5 million consoles worldwide. That PS3 may eventually surpass 360; sure! Perhaps 2014. I own both systems, so it doesn't matter. Just pointing out facts.
Sorry guys, but that's a very "iffy" estimate. The 360 is probably still 1.5 million systems ahead. If not, Sony would have been all over this during CES. Yes, Sony will eventually sell more, but at some point it doesn't matter. I don't want to be playing 360 or PS3 2 years from now. This was the first generation since Genesis/SNES in which there was actual competition. Sony fans act like PS3 is the "underdog" but fail to remember that PS3 was supposed to surpa...
Why would they spend more money/time on the PS3 to make it equal? It's all about $$$.
This is basically the Apple strategy. Add perks every year so prices remain constant. It's the only way for them to make up the initial losses. Ipod classic 4 years ago; $250. Ipod Classic today $250.
Remember that the GPU won't be anything that exceeds what PCs can do. Sure, it'll do 4k but the framerate will suffer. Call of Duty won't be 4k. LBP, sure! And expect the next XBOX to do the same.
MS' best hope in Japan is the Wii U. Prevent Sony from building a huge lead in Japan.
The fact that all three console developers went with AMD is news worthy. Glad Sony joined the club!
MS' best strategy in Japan is to hope Wii U sells a lot over there an steals market shares from Sony. They'll never support an American system.
Sorry fellas, I own both ystems. Xbox won. 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 were the years Sony would win and didn't. Sure, if they sell the system thru 2020, they'll sell more. But this generation is over in 2012. Say what you want, but having played Pc games like Skyrim, and eve CoD, PS3 and 360 games look like crap. Move on.
I know he's talented, but in the time Konami develops this game, I've had fun with 10 other. All that wait is not worth it. It's the difference between 95% and 100%. I prefer 5 games that scored 95% to 1 that scores 100%. Too many options these days on both 360 and PS3 to wait for an "epic" game. I wan't to play now.
Sorry, my source is better than yours:

VG Chartz is based on estimates. Your source doesn't say who conducted the research, etc. Anyone can post anything. Funny thing; I own both consoles.
Wrong. Americans have supported every Japanese company since the early days of videogames. Americans are buying 360 for Xbox Live. If your friends play online, you want to play online with them. It is the Japanese market that has never given a chance to American consoles. As a matter of fact, Japanese companies like SEGA didn't respect its American counterparts even when they were right (Dreamcast, Genesis, etc.) Why is it that in Europe the playing field is closer between Sony and MS? In...
Ok, now you're making stuff up. 17 month headstart?Nov 2005 and Nov 2006, and you couldn't find the system in stores due to supply issues (and RRoD). Xbox was the best selling console of 2011 worldwide.

Price cuts won't make a difference if Halo comes out this year. Too much Halo hype. People seem to miss the point that Sony went from undisputed king to playing catch up. Even if they pass MS this year (won't happen), they lost. By the way, I own both.
Here we go again. 80% of games look better on 360. Yes, 10 games on ps3 look awesome. But you can't judge a generation on 10 games. 360 has the best graphics overall. I'll give you Uncharted (which I own) and Killzone (Crysis 2 on 360 looks better).
Wow, AMD! If that's the case, and PS4 releases last, I would think it would be slightly better than Xbox. I'm guessing a faster Cell chip. Don't expect a big jump in graphics overall.
Car prices go up. Game prices have stayed the same for years. Games cost $50 in the 90s. $60 mid 00s. Yet developers spend more today. If developers charged $70 we would be outraged. Yet we don't want to pay for inflation. I want to say some SNES games cost $60. That was 20 years ago.
Yes, but you get money from one customer, not all the customers.
Also; they are charging $10 dollars more than what a Genesis and SNES game costed in the 90s. Yet they spend a lot more than back then. Better music score, complex storylines, online, etc. Last time I checked, going to the theater is almost $15 for 2-hours (90 mins). Take a family out, that's $60. You want premium; you must pay. Just like the PS3 fans that complain about "lazy developers." They're not lazy; it takes resources to develop good games.
BattleAxe,
1.Sony has not surpassed MS on worldwide sales. The report was a forecast of systems shipped by one company. A forecast is a prediction. In fact, 360 is still ahead by at least 1.5 million systems according to most sites. Notice how Sony has not made such claim.
2. XBOX has always been the underdog. MS shipped the system early precisely to counter Sony's dominance. The strategy worked. MS is ahead with 2 markets (US and Europe).
3. 360 dominates...
