GamingUnion.net: Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed Review

GamingUnion.net: "When Need for Speed: Shift came out in 2009, it marked a slight change of direction for the franchise as a whole. While in the past, Need for Speed was more focussed on the arcade side of things, Shift took itself much more seriously; it was the closest thing to a simulation racer the franchise had ever seen. With Shift 2: Unleashed, Slightly Mad Studios want to take that mentality and raise it up a notch, as they've claimed that Shift 2 is more of a racing simulator, than a standard simulation racer. Parts of it work, but other parts feel quite unrefined."

Sounds like they unleashed it out on the market a little bit too early, perhaps?

Perhaps, I just think they're confused about whether they want to be arcade or sim.

Looking Back to 2011 and the Forza Baiting Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed

Paul writes: "So, all in all, Shift 2: Unleashed from way back in 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC was a good game, but not quite as good as the marketing hype may have had you believe. Autolog and racing with friends was fun, the upgrading of the cars and the gradual unlocking of the new series made for an addictive play, and the game looked the part as well. But it failed to reach the heights many predicted."

Interesting interview....

I agree,
SQ: "Excellent"
LkTWS: "Yes"

Thanks for writing something with substance and not just opinion and speculation.

Deus Ex was great, but ME3 was just done terribly. The should have done the collection of the series for wii u instead of the third game on its own.

CurrentDigital3700d ago

This is exactly what I've been telling Jes, but he's just a QA tester so it doesn't really matter what I tell him. :P

Excellent work. This is a breath of fresh air especially compared to the usual doom and gloom on here. Keep it up.
