ThisGenGaming says "While Final Fantasy XV is a good game, it's also a disappointing game that didn't quite reach the level of hype it had."

10 years of hype!Well i guess that for jrpg im going back to Xenoblade chronicles X for my fix.

Servbot412721d ago

XCX was awful in almost every aspect besides combat; this coming from someone who loved XC.

indyman77000012721d ago (Edited 2721d ago )

Hmmmm waiting for a major reviewer.

Bansai2720d ago

I loved everything about XCX except for story which was lackluster.

solideagle2720d ago (Edited 2720d ago )

whats up with reviews saying "FF XV for first timers" as if each FF is a sequel. "A disappointing experience for a first timer" what a stupid statement. Stop making such remarks, each numbered FF is a stand alone game.

johndoe112112720d ago

This is thisgengaming do not take anything they say seriously. They are almost as bad a clickbait site as gamingbolt.

XanderZane2720d ago

@indyman7700001
IGN - 8.2
Gamespot - 8
Polygon - 9
Game Informer - 8.5
VideoGamer - 8

Looks like it's a good game worth owning.

Pintheshadows2720d ago

@Solideagle

The game features a screen that says a FF for fans and first timers so I imagine it has something to do with that.

hirobrotagonist2720d ago

I hate to agree with you, but I do. I hated the music and the lack of a fantasy setting. The story and characters were terrible, but the mechs were pretty awesome, though I didn't have the patience to unlock on.

KimikoGaming2720d ago

Flying around in the skell was so satisfying though =D

OH, now I finally understand why COD always gets a highscore.

release every year = no hype = high score.

hirobrotagonist2720d ago

so you're listening to this one shitty review from a fairly unknown site?

2720d ago
gintoki7772720d ago

What a disappointing review for a first time review reader XD

TheFirstClassic2720d ago

Lmao how do you come to that conclusion after just one review

Here we go

There's always that one reviewer who's gotta give a big game a bad rep just to get more traffic

Hoffmann2721d ago (Edited 2720d ago )

Well its TGG, better don't take this review as a serious honest attempt to rate the game.

Deadpooled2720d ago

Fortunately they got beat in posting the first review for them juicy hits by Gadgets 360 :)

rocketpanda2720d ago

Which media outlet should we take seriously then? All reviews are opinions. If a game people happen to like doesn't match a review's opinion then they are criticized for being biased or not a major media outlet. So now it matters for which outlet you work before being considered to be a credible gamer to make credible reviews. How sad!

And since when is 7/10 considered to be a bad score.

joethetimelord2720d ago

This review didn't even make metacritic, and it's the lowest score on n4g.

Irishguy952720d ago

This is the highest lowest review i've seen on a AAA game recently. 7/10 is the lowest score..damn

PaleMoonDeath2721d ago

Do what I did for Star Wars Force Awakens, LOWER expectations to that for FF13.

So either way, the game will be dope! 18 hours left!

CamillaAddiction2721d ago (Edited 2721d ago )

i'm not gonna let a "slightly less than stellar score of what i expected" review stop me from playing a game i waited 10 years to play.. i'm still gonna enjoy the game alot personally.. years ago people said that FF12 was terrible.. but i poured in over 100 hours of my life playing it and i love the fuck outta it and have absolutely no regret and still gonna buy the HD remaster

XV sure as hell not gonna be as awful as the 13 trilogy.. so count your blessings

Aloy-Boyfriend2721d ago (Edited 2721d ago )

XII was great. The best combat system by far in the series imo. I wish they continued and polished it further.

CamillaAddiction2721d ago (Edited 2721d ago )

best in the series in my opinion.. ffxv might beat that..

Stogz2721d ago

Wow am I the only one that preferred the old turn based combat ? I hated the combat in 12, it got worse in 13...I like this more actiony kind of combat more for games like Mass Effect.

FinalFantasyFanatic2720d ago

@Stogz

Actually I do miss turn-based combat, I wouldn't mind FFXV graphics with gamplay from the PS1 era of games, but to each their own.

Rainstorm812720d ago

Im one that preferred turn based.

I want a FFX fighting system...with combat look of advent children

FF12 was great, especially hunting down those Zodiacs within this huge game world, I introduced my sister and fiance to the game(their 1st FF game) and they ended up spending over a 180 hour's in it, there's just so much to find and discover, almost a Japanese Skyrim if you will.

caelumsixsmith2720d ago

It's funny how people used to piss on FFXII back in the day and even a while after its release, but now everyone's excited for the HD remaster. XII was indeed great and by far one of the best open worlds in the franchise. I myself had over 200 hours across three saves, all of them with the team ready to embark the Bahamut. The thing is, since Final Fantasy is always evolving with each new entry, there will always be someone who will say the newest one is crap.

ShockUltraslash2721d ago

Troll review.
Witcher 3 sucks
GTAV sucks.

EmperorDalek2721d ago

I agree with the last two points. We'll have to see how everyone else scores FFXV to determine if this is a troll review.

Eonjay2721d ago

It is a troll review. This GenGaming is a troll blog.

n4rc2720d ago

7/10 is a troll review? man, trolls are getting lazy or something...lol

Indigon2720d ago

They are in it for the clicks. Best to be ignored until the real reviews are there.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled24d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog156d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake156d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic154d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan155d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman156d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator156d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno155d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior156d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake156d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
