Cloverfield's monster resembles Final Fantasy X's Sin

It would seem that JJ Abrams, Cloverfield's producer, was playing Final Fantasy X, when he decided on how Cloverfield's monster would look like.

ah this is starting to get on my nerves...

right im the real mighty, for some reason, as of this morning when i log in a get this fake mighty account, i dont know why and i cant fix it, i have contacted the Mods but as of yet i havent heard anything back.

the only reason i can see it happened is that they have deleted the wrong mighty, but rest ashored i will get it sorted as soon as possible because its really starting to piss me off, BIG TIME!

He only posted pictures of the game monster *I don't see the similarity BTW*, and that one picture that looks like a drawing... that was a preliminary guess/prototype as to what the monster would look like. That's not actually it. Not by a long shot.

for those that have seen the movie... that's not the monster that was in it. that's one of the pictures released to throw people off track before the release of the movie. especially telling is the beatle-like mini monster, that looks NOTHING like the ones in the movie.

Okay, first off, the article gets it wrong right away, apart from the bad grammar, saying "when he decided on how Cloverfield's monster would look like." He didn't decide. If they had actually seen the movie they would have known that like the 3rd name on the credits was of the guy who designed the monster.

And besides the monster in the movie is a quadruped with a slender body and head springing from a neck; features that Sin does not share. And for all those saying that "it comes from Resistance", it doesn't COME from Resistance. While the similarities are closer than the one being stated in this article, they're still really different and besides Cloverfield has been in development since before Resistance came out. The spider thing in resistance has the slender front legs like the Cloverfield monster and is really tall and everything, but the cloverfield monster has the hind legs of a quadruped mammal and its body shape is similar to a human. The thing from resistance has tons of spider-like eyes while cloverfield's monster has only two.

Plus guys, it's a monster movie! They're trying to make monsters now look different than anything before and if everyone is trying to radiate AWAY from the same thing it's only expected that some aspects could be coincidentally similar. So basically, it's totally false and my best guess to why they would do something like that is basically what shotputking said.

It looks more similar to something out of Resistance rather than Sin. Especially when it gets bombed by the stealth bomber and takes down the helicopter at the end, but I'm sure the monster designer didn't rip off Resistance because like you said the monsters are completely different.

Then the one at the end of the movie looks like a whole different monster, it's weird. When you look at one part of the movie where it starts getting attacked by the military it looks like the face of the spider on Gears of War with more than 2 eyes, but then later you see it up close (won't spoil) and it looks quite different.

A lot of people don't like this movie but I loved it, the camera didn't bother me at all (I wasn't smack dab in front of the screen though, if you like to do that you might get sick I don't know) and it seemed like you were there or watching this real tape from this camcorder like it was released on the news after this attack. It was made with a sequel in mind, so questions will be brought up and many won't be answered - don't get pissed off at the movie. :p It was only since Marcus isn't showing it right now I went to a different theater in Franklin, Wisconsin and tickets were only $6, good deal compared to what you pay at Marcus.

I personally hate it when movies show all the things Cloverfield did and then don't show why or what's going on. It really makes me NOT want to see it because I think it's pretty lame they wouldn't show it. If they did show it I would be excited to see the havok it reaps and would get in line. ...the pic they show of the monster doesn't really look much like the creature from the film. The monster in the movie is actually sorta hard to describe. The face does look like a chimera from Resistance mixed with big red frog air sacks.
