It seems that despite great deals and sales, Steam still isn't quite an (overall) brilliant service, or at least not as much as some fans say it is! Gotta backup those deals with the customer services Steam!
Growing into adult life and not having the time to go through multiple hours of a games story (because there's apparently more important stuff to do?!). Open World/RPGs are the worst for this </3
Don't grow old folks, it's a trap! :(
Can't knock it if it's free! At least worth a go, and got a nice visual style along with it :)
Hah! Nice little comical article :')
Toilets from Duke Nukem Forever? If I remember rightly they were fully functional and came with a throwable piece of poop!
Pillars Of Eternity says hi!.. though unfortunately that is the only other example I can think of :(
It just doesn't seem to be a largely popular game type these days, though the genre has a heck of a dedicated fan base! Just doesn't seem to appeal to many other gamers outside said fan base, I must say - with shame - I'm one who's not ever played an Isometric Game, but they do look gorgeous! I'm just more into my 3D worlds and that.
Creatively and artistically? Yes, easily, you have so much more diversity within the Indie Game community, whether it be the visual style, gameplay mechanics, etc.
Also now with the use of crowd funding Indie budgets - and so therefore game scale - could soon best that of the AAA genre.
This is just the hammer on the nail! So right, imagine Master Chief, Marcus fenix, or Nathan Drake not sounding as they do!
Not sure how to feel about this, a little somewhat unexpected imo. Could have potential if done correctly, but it likely won't be done well so will just annoy instead!
CODs no Russian scene is an omg scene only due to it's controversy really, but a big omg moment at that! The beginning of The Last Of Us is artistically and story-wise a brilliant omg moment, could've swapped it with the opening train sequence from Uncharted 2, both brilliant intros and omg moments. Top list!
Edit: reveal of rapture in Bioshock, or the ending to Spec Ops also both good omg moments.
Will only know and believe how good or bad it is personally once I have it in my own console, playing on my own TV. But it being EA I'm not planning to buy it at launch anyway, such be the reputation they - among others - have gathered lately following the poor states of some games at launch.
This is why it's important you get it right from the get-go game devs and publishers! Not half-baked!
I think the most potential for Japan to bounce back to it's previous gaming glory days is with the upcoming NX Project from Nintendo, which will - if some rumours are to be believed - mix together both mobile, handheld and home console gaming. The mobile market is unfortunately one that probably will now not go away - given the rise of the "smartphone" so trying to get home/proper gaming and mobile gaming to co-exist might be the only way forward for Japan.
It's bad, so much for a 'great digital future.' One where you don't own anything! >_>
Good list, so many more could be added though so much potential for another list. Would be good to see other lists like this one :)
Edit: by which I mean other lists like this, covering a similar topic.
Sports games like Fifa, NBA, etc make good games to play drunken with mates round, though can end up being loud when poor decisions are made in the game :P Rock Band is pretty funny too, mainly for drunk singing, it's like any karaoke! :D
It might as well not have been called #1 spot, just naturally has Miyamoto's name on it! Informative read though, and a good series of opinion pieces :)
You can be an Xbox fanboy, you can be a Nintendo fanboy, or a hater of games altogether (in which case why are you on this site?), but you can't deny the diversity, creativity, and originality of the catalogue for the PS1, as well as it's lasting affect on the industry, and its fans. Forever legendary to me :') Really need to set this up for the long winter nostalgia sessions!
Halo 5: Guardians tops my personal list, but so many great games this month to look forward to for all! :D
I know If I had a PS4 I'd be straight on to the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection!
Shall be getting this with the Xbox One Halo 5 Console, can not wait! As you've said though, just hope the story will be all good, given the focus on multiplayer lately.
For a game that is primarily about a single player story, any delay to make said story better should only be a good thing, and praised by gamers in my opinion. The ending is what will always be remembered in most media, Mass Effect 3, MGSV, and Halo 2, as some examples in gaming.
EDIT: The Last Of Us as another example, oh my that ending!
Damnit Luigi! Though I can't blame him in the 'Luigis Mansion' games hah!
