That was something that dawned on me after thinking about this for a bit. Can't imagine consumers will be pleased with buying a device that will be immediately inferior to a different product that's less than a year after the Portal came out.

They saw Nintendo crushing them (and entirely swallowing up the Japanese market), as well as the Steam Deck's success along with an ever rising portable/mobile market, and they panicked. I don't see this selling well, especially because the Switch 2 is reportedly performing at PS4 levels when handheld and PS4 Pro when docked (plus upscaling), and that'll most certainly be cheaper and backwards compatible (with GameCube/Wii backwards compatibility most certainly being adding combin...

The market for games like this is too over saturated to make a dent in other established games' player counts. Trying to start all over with a whole new multiplayer meta and grinding to get better is not feasible when there's already a ton of similar games that have come out before it.

Mods/admins, I'm curious about something. Why is this account allowed to continue to submit articles? They submit only from Gaming Bolt, which makes me believe this account is one of their writers or staff. That feels like something that should have a rule against it.

They released 18 Final Fantasy games or expansions in a four-year period, with at least six of them being related to Final Fantasy VII (this includes mobile and remakes).

That is entirely too many games and dilutes the brand.

I mean, they should get flack. They stole designs and art, as well as used AI. They also did the same thing when it came to their other game which was a ripoff of Hollow Knight

It was already explained that the requirement was meant for day one, but due to the sheer number of people trying to play the game and overwhelming Arrowhead unexpectedly, they decided to push back the requirement indefinitely to deal with the important things first. This still makes it a Sony issue, Arrowhead dealt with things the best they could, as well as showed the most sympathy for their player base.

We already were blaming Sony. Not a single person I've seen talk about this has blamed Arrowhead. Not even the article managed to show a single example either. Review bombing doesn't count as it was clear the action was directed at Sony.

Oh yes, coming from the only console maker that ended up with an entire breach of data and brought their services down

That shows me you know don't anything about indies if that's the conclusion and generalization you managed.

>China

That one has its own unique can of worms, most notably the fact that it was caused by their own government.

100% agree, whether it's docked and a tower or a Deck and using the Switch on-the-go. The combo is all I ever need now that lots of PS/Xbox games aren't exclusive to their consoles anymore.

The Portal is strictly a PlayStation device and has on-par if not worse connectivity than most phones, so a G-Cloud or even a Steam Deck for a bit more money is a better deal for more options.

I don't exactly trust Square on their timelines and release windows, so not holding my breath on that one. Could easily see it getting pushed into the 2029-2030 range.

Maybe parting the releases out and having so many FF games in a short time was not a good idea, along with releasing Rebirth in a crowded window.

Highly recommend people using DuckStation for emulation on PS1 games. You're able to push the games to their limit and break beyond original texture sizes and aspect ratios, with games like Gran Turismo look like they got a fresh remaster. Breathes new life into old classics.

Sales and review scores don't lie, and those support my take.

That headline is the most unfortunate setup for a dig at Xbox, given the lack of games that have warranted even purchasing an Xbox (and that can date back to 2013). It's almost a notable Xbox game by default.

PS5 Pro doesn't exist yet, and what games are even coming out to warrant closing yourself off to PlayStation-only? Might as well spend the extra money and have a much more expansive ecosystem and a large back-log (along with a handful of PS exclusives that are on PC anyway).
