I applaud your ability to make numbers smaller. How do you do it?

So PS5 is 4x faster the Xbox Series X. That said i try to avoid that sort of extrapolation, often the results aren't linear.

Ha cute. Well when this is revisited in a few weeks time there will be more PS5 gamers capable of loading this game in 2 seconds than there will be PC gamers. Watch this space ...

Yeh I think I'm with you. Although for me it's the speed of the gameplay that seems too slow. Take the reload animation for instance it's so slow, seems like they want to dwell too much on the art style at the expense of the gameplay. I mean it's a creepy art style for sure but playing the game at that pace doesn't evoke tension. Maybe the story is great, but given that something as core as the reload animation is so slow I think the rest of the gameplay will be this slow ...

It's a good job the enemies are slow. Seems to take forever to reload. And I think that's generally what bothering me about it at the moment it all seems slow. The art style is cool, maybe it has a compelling story.

You mean you won't be able to tell whilst playing it so you need Digital Foundry to tell you instead. Enjoy clapping at the numbers.

Ah so the penny has dropped you realised I was criticising Digital Foundry. Well done you.

Next step, repeat after me. Heat rising has minimal impact on cooling in an actively cooled device.

If you are having trouble understanding that feel free to use Google, I'm sure you will find multiple references to both back this up and also provide ample explanation as to why this is the case.

Now armed with this new found knowledge, and a q...

@GamerRN
Are you ok?

Why is this difficult to understand, Sony's Engineering director for the PS5 said as much in this very interview. And I'm not criticising Microsoft's Engineers i'm criticising digital foundry's analysis of the cooling solution.

Yeh the latitude and longitude kind of give it way. Also explains allot of recent comments from Gabe himself about Xbox Series X.

I agree in part, but hot air rising has little impact on the cooling effectiveness. What i think your'e saying, and hence why i partially agree with you; is that it's the only sensible place they (Microsoft) could put it given the design they chose.

Where i disagree is that the because the PS5 fan is at the top it is somehow going to be sucking in noticeably hotter air. Due to the active cooling the air isn't going to escape the case at some perpendicular vector...

You mean what makes Yasuhiro Ootori more knowledgeable? Is he not a console Engineer, thats why i quoted him. Digital Foundry are not console Engineers, this was a critique of their dough-eyed analysis of the series x.

Hot air rising contributes a tiny amount to cooling when using active cooling which both of these consoles do.

Horizontal for me, at least for the disk drive edition. The digital is more symmetrical which i think makes it look better vertical though.

From the article
"I think some people think that the heat dissipation efficiency should be higher in the vertical installation due to the chimney effect. However, in a cooling system with an active fan (electric fan), the chimney effect is at the measurement error level"

Digital Foundry pretend that...

Digital Foundry, no need to spread concern anymore. Yes they did think about the SSDs cooling.

Mr. Otori: There are two exhaust holes for the SSD slot for expansion. Since the expansion slot is near the intake fan, it has a structure that sucks heat from the exhaust hole with negative pressure.

You could but the experience would be significantly different.
"...there is nothing that I can play on a PS5 that I can't already play on my earlier PS3 or PS4 devices...""
You can't play Ratchet & Clank : Rift apart so theres that. I can almost guess what your response to that will be.

My reason for buying it is the exclusive games, its the same reason i buy Nintendo consoles. I have no problem playing Xbo...

You mean you will be waiting 18-24 months.
Yes I had noticed they last longer than that. The question becomes what do you base your decision on, future promises or past performance. I wouldn't hold my breath where Xbox is concerned. Forza is the only consistently high achieving (in all aspects) exclusive IP they have. Other then that your relying on Phil Spencer to do what he said gaming wasn't about and make those Bethesda games Xbox platform exclusive.
