Not really ray tracing can't be used in many ways, from shadows, global illumination, reflections, there is even different amounts of bounce lighting you can add or fully path traced like Minecraft or Pixar.

Lol @surgicalmenace living in the past tencent has a market cap that is three times larger than the whole of Sony's entire company.
It's the 23rd most valuable company in the world.
They know the concessions even the public that buy the console know that it will run at a much lower rez.
The architecture was designed from the start be be almost the same just a weaker GPU that targets 1080p.
The biggest problems may come later when some Devs may want to pusher harder at lower rez but hopefully then they will have the ml to play with.
Same as gamepass as the game ages in the service it becomes less played and less visible than when the joined or service or when it leves , they put on play it now before it leaves it recreates similar hype like when it joined, its like a form of fomo.

Sony was the first company to have $70 next gen games, it launched with a first party games at that price point thus encouraging other companies to increase there price point.
If Sony kept at the same price point there is no way others would have increased, Nintendo haven't, Microsoft haven't just Sony.
Maybe they want it to go farther and this was part of the plan, now at stage two of a deeper investigation into the deal they can bring up all the contract clauses Activision have with Sony and all the anti competitive practices they use in these deals, maybe they are looking at getting some of these clauses in other contracts with other companies ripped up.
