Not to mention they also seem to be the major attraction for lower quality games from the same developers/publishers. Bundle in a beta token and sell more games to people who probably wouldn't have bought them before.

Works fine for me, im running a 4870 x2 with the latest drivers.
if i recall correctly, they can "retire" games as well.
So not only do you pay full retail for it, but you hardly own the game as well. If they decide to take it off their servers, you are left without access to it.
Same applies if they close up too, everything you purchased was for nothing.
I would rather actually own the physical media thanks.
It's not just your internet speed which is a factor here, its the ping you have to the server, i remember either reading an article or watching a video on it discussing the optimal ping to use this service fluently. If you ping to the server and anything beyond 80ms imo, you will notice a massive delay between your actions with the controller and that of the reponse for the game.
Connection speed isnt the only issue with this service.
Wow, starcraft was such a huge hit in the tournament side of gaming, not including lan would be the stupidest move blizzard has ever done.
Why on earth will you force people in the same room to play via battle.net with a higher latency which you will get via a lan...
Sure, this is going to stop people from downloading the game and playing with friends illigally, but the people who purchase it, need access to the internet to be able to play it between family membe...
i agree with you there. IMO games designed for the PC (crysis, farcry 2) should be bought on the PC as they are obviously going to be best on the PC. The graphic quality of Far Cry 2 on the consoles will have no chance matching the might of the PC running the NVidia 280 or 3870 x2.

microsoft own the halo name, it will never go multiplatform.
i assume most games (gow and forza) will also drop in multiplayer numbers with this two big guns coming out soon.

They are just lost now... I generally don't use the filtering to find a blog entry to read, though if one on the side panel interests me I will read it, this new site makes them completely hidden unless specifically filtering on them now. Quite a bad move when trying to push original content through the monthly contests.
