One game had an amazingly strong female character that you grew to care about, while the other was all SJW inspired and annoyed the living crap out of you.

I fully expect graphical upgrades, but im meaning major next generation level graphic upgrades, rather than improvements that one would similarly get upgrading to a new video card on PC. PS PRO for example has those type of upgrades in games like your Gears examples, im meaning that they would forgo 4k native and go 1080p with next gen level graphics. I doubt that would happen unless they needed something to spur sales.

No...But I could see MS release several 1st party games where the difference in the game between the Xbox One and Xbox One X is almost next gen like, especially if sales of the Xbox One X are low. Right now they are focused on releasing games that are true 4k Xbox One games and Look great on both consoles, but for a few titles they might try to use that power to standard HD and max out graphics rather than 4k or high framerates. I highly doubt Sony will do anything like that.

HERETIC - I have been wanting a remake forever it seems. I'd love a AAA level doom like dungeon game again.

I own it and I have yet to play it because my back catalog is so large. I keep hearing how great it is.

Well of course its not coming in 2018, its silly. its 2019 at the earliest, but more than likely 2020.
One thing people arent talking about is how the Xbox One X is so powerful so it can play 4k current gen games, and because of that, whatever follows will need to be MUCH MORE powerful as its going to be expected to be the Xbox One X and then a bigger performance increase over that. Thats not going to happen by 2018, probably not by 2019, but by 2020.

the caveat ...

New IP make good exclusives, but limiting a massive seller like Anthem to one console would be a big mistake financially. This is the next big game from the original Mass Effect Team, and has great expectations. Even if Massive Money is thrown at it by MS, EA would lose out BIG over time. MS needs new IP badly, but not a pre-announced game with big expectations.

The question is can MS turn it around for the next gen, because this one has clearly already been won. I was a big Xbox guy till Don "Let them eat media and Kinect" ruined Xbox with his focus on being the new watercooler. It was unbelievable how out of touch MS was. My group of friends all own PS4's as their main console this gen after being Dreamcast then Xbox, and Xbox 360 owners. I want to see MS wow next gen, hopefully they can do it. Competition is a good thing for consume...

Completely agree. Unlike other tech, you dont know how great VR is till you try it. Not every game or experience will wow someone even it wows others. I think VR is more subjective. Star Trek Bridge crew will wow some while others will find it boring, fans of horror will love Resident Evil 7 in VR while non horror fans will not, and even horror fans might feel its too intense. Farpoint will wow FPS shooter fans but will seem lacking to RPG fans or Nintendo gamers. Unlike a TV experience, you ...

You are either a troll or highly opinionated on something you most likely not even played very much.

Two months ago, a friend and I had another friend over who HATED Sony for years to play PSVR, which he hadnt seen. He was so impressed he bought a PS4 and a PSVR. We had a party two weeks ago with the three PSVR's inviting several people who havent tried it (Xbox Fans and PC fans, no fans of Sony), and now they are buying PSVR's. One PC friend is buying an Oculus bec...

PSVR 2.0 is a long way off, wont hit till PS5. I expect mixed reality with cameras on PSVR 2, not just VR.

What I want for now, Impulse Gear, is for you to take your engine and make a full FPS Halo like game with it, using the AIM controller. Farpoint is fun and impressive but it feels like a tease for what could be. I want a Multiplayer combat game like that as well.

Wow, The Xbox One S already runs some games in 4k, how awesome is that! I bet those Xbox One S owners are happy to hear that, probably thinking they would need to spend $500 to get that 4K awesomeness.

(Seriously,,,,,,Did this guy do any research before he wrote this article?)

Sweet, might get a switch after all

Yeah that worked out well for them. MS always seems to make bad decisions on games, they need a pool of regular gamers to give advice it seems, couldnt be any worse.

Of course its going to have Backward Compatibility, with the Kuturagi mindset of developing specialized hardware gone and the Mark Cerny mindset of using whats available already, its a no brainer for it to have the AMD APU again, though it may be more specialized this time. I hope they wait till at least 2020, I dont need another console till then, and I hope they make it a powerful box and dont skimp on specs. By 2020, we should be able to have 4k 60fps APU's. I imagine it will be PSVR ...

Looks good, just finishing my PS4 playthough of Bioshock: Infinite Burial at Sea pt 2, already finished All three Bioshock games and this is last to do. Makes me sad that they never released a new Bioshock game, what a waste dissolving Irrational was.

Switch has a Tegra X1, the same as the Nvidia Shield Android TV, but underclocked from 1.9GHZ to 1.02 GHZ for CPU, and from 1GHZ down to as low as 307 MHZ. Its a 2015 era CPU/GPU severely performance gimped, like 1 GF down to .3 GF compared to the Shield Android TV. Nvidia has since released the Tegra X2 and has another Soc called Xavier coming if not already out. Nintendo does what Nintendo always does, go for the cheap performance!

I tell you though, Nintendo really needs...
