I've always been of the opinion that unless you're doing some crazy video or audio editing, and you prefer mac for that...their is no other reason besides inability to use a PC properly to buy one.

Yea...fine? So what, turn it off, not exactly a big deal. The only problems with vista are the UAC and poor 64-bit driver support, which you can put part of the blame on microsoft for. The first problem you could solve in 5 seconds, and the second has been a non-issue for months.
Nothing is wrong with vista. And quite frankly if you're reliant on your OS for security you're already behind in that fight. Start at your portals to the net. (firefox w/ noscript ftw)
