Add Symphony of the Night, SF Alpha 3, Legacy of Kain, and Parappa to pwnsauce's great list.
@Kelly
Count me in as a blind fanboy because for the life of me I don’t understand the efforts and time you and others are spending trying to make me doubt what I'm seeing.
It looks fun as hell. I watched the prior demo, and that did not look like a fun experience. So how can this be a downgrade exactly? This looks like they took that tech and tried to make it into a functional game. That game has explosions, people flying around, big guns, and build...
Whether they're selling consoles, a PC storefront, a streaming service, or a subscription plan, exclusive content is necessary. Not sure what's confusing about that part honestly.
Between the delay and the day-one download problems, I think it's safe to say that there are deadline issues with this game. If they had to temporarily hold off on one version, Switch and its cartridges probably makes sense.
I'll personally wait and see if it does come to NS. This would be too perfect in handheld mode.
We always want more!
People over hyped it leading into it like they did in prior years for PSX. For what it was, it was decent enough. I hope Battletoads is shown at the VGAs since it was a no-show last night.
That cynicism tho...
The public event has been happening for some time, they just made it a bit more extensive to boost their marketing before the holidays.
I enjoy events like this and PSX. Plus, it's great that companies do these cons and "fanfests." You could have not wasted your own time watching it by just checking out twitter afterwards.
Pretty much this. I'm not even one of those who complain about the combat. Sadly, it remains one of the best features.
I think you fell for that prior clickbait.
They showed and talked about a bit more during the event. Looks pretty good. Maybe start there?
Maybe you're better off just waiting for release.
It sounds like you're wanting to examine the tech more than what's possible in a trailer, so why put so much effort into trying to crap on it if you acknowledge that it's not enough to go by? How is that any different than hyping it up based on the same?
I caught that comment too. Smart move. Not sure about dominating, but quality 1st party + gamepass + most powerful keeps them in the game for sure.
Now it's really starting to be impressive.
How so? PUBG charted practically every month for most of the year, so I think MS got their money's worth.
Most games fade away eventually. I'd say investing in one of the most popular MP games at the time proved to be a safe bet. I'm sure they would have liked to have Fortnite be exclusive instead, but so would Sony and Nintendo for that matter.
Battle royale will just be another sub genre. It's not oversaturated, and it's not the end...
Yeah, why the downvotes? It would be nice to only buy one copy of a multiplat. Not sure of the tech requirements, but I'd like to see it.
I can't be the only one with multiple copies of GTA sitting on the shelf.
I don't know about that kind of thinking. I'd argue that any advertisement that requires you to read the fine print is not "clear." If we went back to the pre Xbox One X days, and MS advertised one of their 720p or 900p games with a big fat sparkling 1080p on the ad with fine print, even the most diehard Microsoft supporters would have to admit it was misleading.
When Sony or Xbox advertise like this, the goal is to attract people who don't read or und...
10-20 is not very realistic. Look at something like the Witcher 3, which spent $35+ million on just marketing. That was more than the cost of developing it. Red Dead's marketing push is easily going to eclipse that.
$300 million sounds too high to me too. I wouldn't be shocked if it cost $100 though.
I'd go back a generation and say PS1 deserves that honor actually.
That's all very true. Google (and Apple) are the competitors MS, Sony, and Nintendo should be worried about as we move away from the hardware centric model. Honestly, Valve should be worried too, but their complacency overall is a different topic.
The only advantage the big 3 really have is that pre-existing user base and the investment in core gaming (nice that MS finally got that memo).
So Nadella isn't wrong, and is certainly being optimistic (...
I am in the same boat. Just checked and it is on back order on the US store.
You seriously should check out any of the numerous previews on Youtube. Single save states, barebone menus, no borders, no filters, no instructions...It's as half assed as they come.
No one is hating the idea. Many of us were legitimately excited. But when you follow in your competitor's footsteps and can't even make it look like you tried AND charge more, you deserve the ridicule.
