Cloud technology as you are talking about is from the stone age cause when your e-mails are not saved on your computer directly but online, a bit like the Data Storage for PS3.
The implementation of this technique in the videogames world is quite new and as said before streaming a 10Gig game without downloading all of it if a whole different thing.
Stream next gen games on PS3 using OnLive could be the way to go.. It will leave them the time to work on the infamous PS4. I'm highly excited for this !

Hope you were right but that's not the case. Current consoles are still not maxed out completely if you look at The Last of Us and probably the new God of War, but i sign for 2 or 3 more years for PS3.
Remember during last E3 Microsoft announced the exclusive deal with Activision about the early CoD DLCs and this deal will end in 2013.
It makes a lot of sense 720 will release in fall 2013.
