One of the things I hate most about Obsidian Entertainment is they always make crappy sequels to successful games developed by better studios.

Examples:

Kotor II

NeverWinter Nights 2

and now Fallout: New Vegas

And when they make these crappier sequels, Obsidian is always sure to use MOST if not ALL of the same assets, character models, textures, ideas, etc.

That's what Obsidian does. They generally don't bring anything new to the table, they usually only make improvements to the obvious flaws of their predecessors, and then they assume they've done an amazing job worthy of purchase.

Yeah, I was hoping this game wasn't a copy of Fallout 3, but the graphics sure make it seem that way. Supposedly, the actual Las Vegas city has been reconstructed and is more vibrant, so we'll have to wait and see until that's revealed ;).

Given that Fallout 3 was one of the only two games I'd give 10/10 (the other being Littlebigplanet with Uncharted 2 coming very close) I'd obviously be more than happy with more of the same but I do have to admit I'd hoped for a big improvement in graphics, which doesn't seem to be the case. I'm surprised they're even using the same faces (like the old guy face) for the characters. I understand the need to stick to a few face templates for all of the game's characters but man, I'm kinda sick of looking at them and would've thought they could at least change it up a little between games.

And if the quests are mirrors of the first one it will be like paying 60 bucks for an expansion pack. I really hope they are going to surprise us.

I'm not holding my breath, though. I can see it now: part of the area will be "Little Lamp Shade" Stores will look the same, weapons, etc.

The only reason I am willing to accept Bethesda letting this go is for the hope that they needed the time, assets and manpower to put out a new Elder Scrolls. That would make eveything all right.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM12d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit12d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife12d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

The Fallout Anthology Edition is coming to PC very soon, and is packaged with some very S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses.
