The 10 Best Zombie Games

"Ever since film director George A. Romero showed the world that mindless, stumbling, decaying, undead corpses wanted nothing more than to eat our brains, zombies have been source material for just about every industry in entertainment. Video games included. A black and white film, The Night of the Living Dead reached out to audiences in 1968 -- sixteen years later, a few of us were alive to play as Ash on our Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, defending a log cabin from zombies and limbs in Palace Software's The Evil Dead. Nearly thirty years later, our obsession has reached epic proportions"

LFD2 is by far the best Zombie game out as of now.
Pure multi-player epic killing

frostypants4604d ago

My only gripe in L4D2 is the tanks. Those things just seem out of place, and create frustration more than anything. Beyond that it's the best co-op game ever, IMHO. I can't even play the zombie modes in the CoD games...they're just too slow paced. I like my zombies numerous and highly aggressive.

Black-Helghast4604d ago

LFD2 is an awesome game but I think Plant Vs Zombies should be #1.

Also; DEAD ISLAND #5...Dead Space #7?

.....................

Really? I still hate myself for wasting 60$ on Dead Island and not buying Resistance 3.

bodybombs4603d ago

i liked dead island. i think its only really fun when youre playing with a few friends though.

left 4 dead 2 was awesome, my only gripe with it was the lack of updates for the xbox version of the game.

i really wish they added zombies ate my neighbors though, i had tons of fun with that game

StifflerK4604d ago

I'd add 'Stubbs the Zombie' , that game deserves a sequel.

MagicAccent4604d ago

The game that got me into liking barbershop quartets, haha.

Noticeably_FAT4604d ago

I kind of prefer Left 4 Dead 1, nothing better then playing that with some friends over XBL. The fact that you actually get the chance to play as a zombie gives the game an edge. It is very unique.

frostypants4604d ago

Glad they put L4D2 as #1. I love that game. The kicker is I got both it and L4D1, plus the expansions, for something like $10 on Steam. Best bang for the buck ever.

When's L4D3???

For the last time:
Resident Evil is not a zombie game!

specialguest4603d ago (Edited 4603d ago )

From Resident Evil Wiki:

A zombie refers to most humans that have succumbed to the Tyrant virus (either through contaminated water supply or via bites and scratches from a virus carrier).

The researchers at Umbrella called them "zombies" due to their slow pace, mindless nature, similarity to the modern-day concept of a zombie in 20th century cinema, and the fact that they are walking dead corpses.[notes 1] Like their horror film counterparts, zombies spread the virus through biting and are walking corpses, DUE TO THE FACT THAT INDIVIDUALS DIE BEFORE TURNING INTO ZOMBIES.

Zombies were the main enemies in the Resident Evil franchise, but were replaced by Las Plagas and their hosts in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Zombies return in the upcoming games Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Resident Evil: Revelations.

Source: http://residentevil.wikia.c...

If we want to get technical on what a zombie is, then almost all of those games listed are true zombies according to the Vodou religion. Otherwise, Resident Evil IS a zombie game.

specialguest4603d ago

I meant to say on the last paragragh.... almost all of those games are NOT true zombies according to the vodou religion.

MagicAccent4602d ago (Edited 4602d ago )

Ugh. I meant RE '4' is not a zombie game

Aquanauts Holiday at $500. Nice

jznrpg10d ago

I don’t collect games for their value I collect games I enjoyed playing. Many games I own are worth a lot of money but they must be games I want to play for me to purposely collect them. Most of this list isn’t games I would enjoy. I may have some of these games because I bought my friends PS2/3 Collection years ago and I never actually looked what was in it. It was a couple hundred games though still sitting in a box and I’m sure there are some good valuable games. I should go sift through it sometime.

Profchaos10d ago

I tend to agree for the most part rarity is linked to price
It's unusual that a rare game was popular with a few notable exceptions. Games released at the tail end of a consoles lifecycle which became popular years or decades later like little Samson on the NES or earthbound on SNES.
Or games that were banned after release in certain regions

Looking at this list there's nothing I'd be trying to collect either most of these games were fairly unpopular and bashed on their release leading to the scarcity seen now.
Especially NBA elite which I remember actually watching the news about how it got cancelled but had already shipped to retail it was so bad .

P_Bomb10d ago

I still have Afrika. Who knew it’d be worth something?

MrBaskerville10d ago

Was unaware that Verdict Day was rare, glad I still own my copy. Game is very good.

Chocoburger10d ago

She forgot to mention Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Wizard's Edition with Ninostarter bonuses. This is the second or third most expensive PS3 game, and I own a sealed copy.

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel57d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia58d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda58d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long58d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto58d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long57d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?

It was amazing. All 3 DS games game solid for me, but 2 was special.

hombreacabado78d ago

i can do without ds3 but the first two are solid.

mariopasta78d ago

Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection

Terry_B78d ago

thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.
