Dude is still a kickass developer and the games he's put out so far were pretty good. ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat was amazing. Blue Dragon was fun. Lost Odyssey was damn good.

Just saying his rep wasn't enough to make the 360 popular in Japan, so he has to build it up in the current gaming generation likely on all but the two platforms MS wouldn't have any real issues about. You can probably guess which those two are.

I do remember you saying that, but the disagrees were more for the PS3,PSP part..If you follow gaming you know MS and Nintendo have a great relationship. MS has no problem with Nintendo as you can play Halo, Blue Dragon Plus and Viva Pinata on D.S. IPs owned by Microsoft. and it doesn't matter what you say Mistwalker will never develop for Sony. MS help them get the studio up and running.It's great Nintendo reached out to work with the developer, Sakagushi san had a great relationship with Nintendo in the past as well..His former flagship title(Final Fantasy) started out on the original NES/Famicom..

Really disappointing to me that it's coming to the Wii. The games Sakuguchi makes are epic but the Wii will not because able to match that epicness on a technical level so even while the game may be incredible it won't be what it should have or could have been on PS3 or 360.

On top of the fact that real gamers games don't seem to sell all to well on the Wii and I have to wonder why it's coming out at all on that platform.

And T vs. C isn't my cup of tea. Mostly a WRPG/ JRPG player here. There hasn't exactly been a bounty of those on the Wii this gen, either. Tales on the Wii and Valhalla Knights were abortions, Fire Emblem was pretty good, but that's almost three years old. Hence why I am excited for these two titles; as well as Fragile and Arc Rise.

Still, my shopping list for the Wii is noticeably smaller than that for it's HD brethren.

So "Hironobu Sakaguchi" has gone back to his Original Roots. I'm sure he will make a splash since leaving in 1994 after he jumped on Sony(Final Fantasy 7-10), getting canned(Squaresoft goes downhill), unto Microsoft(Lost Odyssey was sweet), now back to Nintendo (ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat:DS)(The Last Story:Wii).

Only SEGA never was part if this guy's Vision/Charm. One thing the old "Squaresoft" had.

I've been following this guys work and have never disappointed. Unless you count "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", well his biggest blemish. Is "Nobuo Uematsu" on the job as well?

360 jrpgs actually perform better than PS3 jrpg's especially since MS doesnt have Japan to rely on for jrpg sales.

The only reason LO sold higher than the others was because it was a throw back and used the old formula of the JRPGs we love on the PS2. In a way, it's like eating the food you've been longing for. That wasn't the case on the other titles.

but according to them, both ValkyriaChr and LostOddysey(360 no.1 selling JRPG) sold 0.82 million copies and based on recent sales, VC will be passing LO soon.

Demon's Souls outsold LastRemnant(no.2) and SO4(no.3) and will most likely pass LO after the european release.
WKC(or ToV) japan sales outsold both LO&SO4 combined(jap sales)

Keep in mind that other than WKC, all the PS3 JRPGs released so far are either niche or budget titles. DS is probably the most niche RPG released this gen and VC is a SRPG, a genre that never sells well.Both should have little chance of passing 0.5mil but achieved it due to strong reviews and word of mouth.
Compare this with mainstream 360 JRPGs like SO4,LO,ToV,BD,LastRemnant,Infi niteU,etc...you get the picture. No need to mention FF13's sales.

Cold 2000 likes to twist facts around. Valkyria Chroncles, being a sjrpg, sold twice as much as TOV on the 360 and as much as LO on the 360 with less marketing! TOV on the ps3 outsold TOV on the 360 in its first week.

The fact of the matter is ps3 fans buy jrpg more than the 360 fans.

ps: a sjrpg (VC) that will outsell a traditional jrpg (LO) Tell me why? Better rated? PS3 fans tend to buy more jrpg? Or both?

Also, Sakaguchi seems to be trying the FF formula when it comes to names. He's probably hoping that it would be as big as FF series, but putting it on the Wii is a bad choice. PS3 is the way to go when it comes to Jrpgs.

That's the reason you see Blue Dragon on the DS, with the first one being published by Namco Bandai and the second by AQ interactive, even though it first appeared on the 360.

No one took a chance to localise and release it for the west. I mean why would they? The game flopped so hard, that after the first week its on the bargain bin. It made the news round that way.

Also at the time it was released, they had to put it on a special DS cart with a large capacity, which was a record back then, though I think the Level 5 developed Dragon Quest and Ni no kuni had already exceeded that.

Add the cost of the cart to localisation, marketing, and retail distribution, and the risk of an unknown IP and that's alot of very compelling reason for any game publisher even Atlus to stay away from the game.

It's sad that most new promising IPs ends up this way, never getting the break they deserve. It's rather unfortunate but understandable. I mean if Sakaguchi and Nintendo teaming up for this, released for a powerhouse handheld, in a country that practically lives and breathes RPG, couldn't find retail success, then I doubt anyone will.

With Sakaguchis left from Squaresoft, Final Fantasy isn´t that good it was. FF 4, 5, 6 and 7, Xenogears, Ehrgeiz, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Tobal, Parasite Eve I & II, Vagrant Story... Non of Squares actual Titles got the class of this old Catalouge from Sakaguchis hand.

And now Square makes Money with the Remakes of this genius Titles and does not make own good Games. I bet FFXIII with Sakaguchu woud be enourmous better that it is now. Its like Metal Gear Solid withoud Hideo Kojima.

Cause' it's basically Final Fantasy if you think about it. Last is synonymous with final, and a fantasy can be equated with a story, or, a story can be fantastical etc.
On top of this, and here's the clincher; Hironobu Sakugachi is like the head of Mistwalker as well the original creator of Final Fantasy correct? Haha, this seems to be quite obviously an attempt to reclaim his beloved franchise. Not that I have any problem with that. He probably gave the license to SquareEnix and now perhaps regrets it. I therefore think this could be quite a good game; it's just a shame it's being squandered on the wii...

This is very very big. Could this game do Mario 5 numbers? Sure the snes ff was my fav one along with chrono trigger. I'm curious to see some game play now. Look the sales number on 360 and Wii for the RPG genre, few are good and most just doing ok. Hardcore RPG gamers are playing games on either PC or PS3, and so far there aren't many RPG on PS3(at least not outside of Asia) It makes me wonder wtf were these studio CEO thinking.

Sorry but I think you are missing something very big. The DS. That is where you will find a lot of RPGs this gen. Xbox has 37, PS3 has 24, Wii has 25, and the DS has around 160 of them. That's almost double the combined totals for all 3 current consoles.
I mean if you are big on Jrpgs there isnt a better unit to have atm.
