BeefJack writes: "Music video games have become one thing and one thing only now. Amplitude? Rez? "What are those and why should I care?" I hear you crying. Well those are only two examples of a music game that doesn't fall into the plastic peripheral or DLC monster department. Indie developer Stegersaurus Games remembers though as is shown in their just released community title, Battle Beat."
The name Stegrasaurus Games may not come to mind immediately, but you've heard of Daniel Steger's previous works. He created Pumpkin Carver, a pumpkin carving app for Xbox Live, and just finished a defense game controlled with guitar controllers called Battle Beat.
BeefJack writes: "Don't get me wrong here, I enjoy Rock Band more than any man probably should. Samba De Amigo? I've shaken those maracas well into the morning on a few occasions. In fact I've got no problem with music video games and their current trend of DLC, plastic instruments and everything that comes in tow with that."
Battle Beat is a fun game that gives you another reason to use your plastic instruments other than jamming out like a wannabe rock star. For those of you who don't have instruments, then the Xbox 360 controller will do just fine. The gameplay is great, and the strategy elements give the game a true sense of depth that will keep you playing over and over.
