That's what I was going to say. Also they good at souls and they usually different in away then each other. The real thing to say is when the industry going to move from souls formula. I see almost every week theres a new souls games announced this week was bleak faith

Totally disagree. There are not enough souls likes, and good ones at that! Rarely are they announced… Bleak Faith for example is an old game. I literally bought and beat that game about a year ago. It’s rouguelites and metroidvanias that are announced weekly.

Armored Core and Elden Ring are both different than the Souls formula.

Souls formula: You Will Die. Gothic. Not open world. Punishing difficulty. The feeling that doing is completely on the player.

There are have been great souls-like games from other developers. I say if another developer can put their own spin on the genre then I don't see the problem. I don't get the whole defensive gatekeeping. Nioh, Lies of P and Remanent are great games in that genre.

actually what they need to do is upgrade the souls combat and gameplay like they did from demon and dark souls 1 to Dark souls 3 & bloodborne

the popularity of the soulslike experience is higher than ever before and having just played lies of p , i can say with certainly that the souls formula is bloody excellent i and i cant get enough of it

The funny thing is not souls game truly plays the same, each game is so drastically different then the next from combat to lore. The only things “similar” is if in say the dark souls franchise having a shared narrative and landscape.

But everything else is extremely different. Narratively, gameplay, settings and more. Only thing you can say is similar is the insane difficulty at times.

I think it’s really high time for the people who continue to complain to find a new medium. No different than the complainers of “superhero fatigue”. If you don’t like it or tired of something TAKE A BREAK! No one is forcing you to this one thing but yourself

They should get back to doing the occasional horror game. Would love to see how a modern fromsoft Echo Space would look like. And ofcourse continue the Souls and AC train. Just would be cool with the occasional weird lower budget experimental game once in a while, the used to do a lot of these.

This author operates under the assumption that From Software makes the same game, yet Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne and Elden Ring are completely different games with only similar elements.

No. In fact let them make more. I would like to see them make more non-Souls games ALONGSIDE them. AC6 was a great start.

Maybe with 7 games deep with the same basic structure it might be nice to mix up the formula. But then again people seem to love it so given them what they like isn't all bad until it is.

Already have it's called elden ring. The souls flavour is theirs, they just need to improve and innovate upon it and get a new engine to get up to date in the visual department.

I’d say they don’t. Each game they release has a uniqueness to it even with the familiar formula. This is kind of what FromSoft has done for a while if you look at things from King’s Field to Shadow Tower, to Echo Nights, to Eternal Ring, all the way up to Elden Ring.
