Sony's Partnership with Square Enix Has Never Been Stronger, Says Jim Ryan

PlayStation bigwig Jim Ryan made a surprise appearance during Final Fantasy 16’s pre-launch livestream overnight, where he said that his company’s relationship with publisher Square Enix has “never been stronger”. In the brief speech, he mentioned that Sony’s collaboration with the company “goes back to the start of PlayStation’s existence” and that he values “everything we do together and your commitment to our brand and business”.

Obviously this is all just corporate waffle pertaining to the fact that Sony signs a lot of console exclusives from the company, including the aforementioned Final Fantasy 16, but also the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and this year’s Forspoken. If you read between the lines you could come to the conclusion that more console exclusives may be coming – at this point, we honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Kingdom Hearts 4 got money hatted as well.

Just hand the square Enix kingdom to yoshi p and his team.

My word have they delivered, final fantasy is well and truly back among the top tier.

S2Killinit365d ago

Well w that new demo, they are right to form a partnership.

Shadowsteal364d ago

If that demo is any indication to what's in store for the rest of the game then we are in for a treat!

I never felt a need to play demos for games that I was already planning to buy, but I went ahead and played the FFXVI last night. I was genuinely disappointed when the Eikonic Challenge came to an end. I was like "Wait, what's happening?", "Nooooo", LOL. It was so good that I'm going to start over from scratch once I get my hands on the full game.

@raWfodog

You might have to anyway if you want trophies. Some game carry over progress from demos, but they don't bother carrying trophy progress, so you end up with no trophy for story segments you completed already in the demo.

With amazing games like FFXVI and how awesome FFVII Rebirth is looking, long may that continue. FFXVI demo is pure wow!

Magog364d ago

Square hasn't been putting out games this good since the PS1 days and it's nice to see.

RedDevils364d ago

FF X and Dragon Quest was pretty good...

Magog363d ago

I disagree. They were very uninspired compared to Vagrant Story, FF7, FF8 and Xenogears.

OK give us vagrant story remake or parasite eve

Yep Xbox absolutely knocked it out of the park with that stunning show, it was everything a gaming showcase should be, games games and games, well done team Xbox.

CrimsonWing691d ago

It really did. Like I came out of that with the hype for new games I haven’t felt since… well the better years of E3.

monkey6021d ago

It was without a doubt one of the better showcases in years. There was plenty there that excited me. Something has been lacking in years on all platforms

EasilyTheBest22h ago

It was an amazing showcase I loved everything about it. Can't wait to play some of those games.
What's going on. 4 comments & no negatives yet. Wow, what's going on with N4G.

Show was so good, it made me forget about that blue dragon rumor until the next day. Too many games to process.
