GTA 6's biggest problem isn't living up to the hype, it's the fact that parody is dead

I think there is a way: to portray this current world, of Trump, Boris, Órban, Bolsonaro and others as the paradise of nice guys and their fantasies. The penchant for poor Asians, the penchant for the female body and disgust for women, the bromances, the ingrained homosexuality, the fears, the dissimulations, the difficulties with the real world, the virtual bravery. There's plenty of material.

As long as they don't hold back for fear of an inevitable social media shitstorm (from people who'd never buy a GTA game anyway), they'll be fine. It's if they pre-emptively self-censor for fear of offending x or y group that things will start to go wrong.

In all seriousness its biggest problem will be that Rockstar has been around for decades now and still has no damn clue how to design controls that make character motion feel like anything other than a terrible chore. "Realism" is their Achilles heel.

There's a good chance that the satire in GTA6 will be stale. Fortunately for them the online audience won't care about that for the most part and it'll be pretty much irrelevant to the big picture.

Satire isn't dead and it's not the biggest hurdle facing GTA.
The biggest problem is the writing team behind every past GTA game is gone. From dan Houser to Leslie benzies everyone relevant has left rockstar.

These guys had help from others sure but they drove the direction and really helped humanize complete pshycos to the point of feeling for them. Niko killed and smuggled but GTA IV made you legitimately feel empathy for him.

It could be a victim of more realistic graphics.

For example, that horrible live action Dumbo movie we got recently. Hitting an ultrarealistic CG elephant felt a lot more agressive than seeing it with dated animation.

All the things that this game did on PS2, might not translate well to 2022 politically but also 4K graphics 🤷‍♂️

Their two last games are high water marks for the industry that go unmatched in terms of detail, production values, graphics/animation, and gameplay. Any other game let you change characters on the fly? They did this with PS3 tech. GTA6 will blow everything else away no questions asked and as far as material to make fun of this world, something tells me it will be more political than ever before-can’t wait.
