Atari has acquired Intellivision. The company announced today that it had acquired its long-time rival, ending one of the original console rivalries, dating back to the 1970s.
Wow.... two of my earliest gaming platforms. All they need is Coleco to round things out.
This is like Nintendo buying SEGA.
Good piece of history here.
edit: I wanted to read it but the cookies pop up is stopping me.
This was just before my time. I do remember my mom's friend having one all dusty in her apartment back in the day.

People forget that console wars are part of the history of this industry. The console wars were started by competitive companies all the way back then and continued through Sega vs Nintendo, Jaguar/3DO/NeonGeo, and PlayStation vs Nintendo and Xbox.
These companies are across oceans and competing for the same business. These companies created the console wars, not crazy fanboys.
While some video games overwhelm you with sheer scale, titles like Asura's Wrath and Doom Eternal make you the boss player right upfront.
Wolfenstein: The New Order turns ten years old today, so we decided to play it again and discovered just how much of an extinct kind of game it is.
It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.
I noticed how slow it was using the online store ever since they updated from its original look. Close to ten years ago probably lol
I to still have my PS3 connected to my tv alongside a ps5 and X1, 360 and PS2.
It was a great system and I hope the rumours of backwards compatibility hold water as playing games on my old PS3 is fine but much like the X1 and it's backwards compatibility it would be nice to play these PS3 games at locked 30fps with higher resolution.
I recently just bought a PS3 again £25 with a DS3 controller but was given a £10 refund due to the controller being slightly faulty. So £15 for a 40gb PS3 and I can use my ps5 controller on it.
Bought a copy of MW3 and tried the online and yer it works but damn no wonder the online on PS3 was free lol. But it works and it works ok. But looking at the PS3 online. This is why I'm fine paying £35 a year for PS+ and have been for 10+ years now.
I have a PS3, PS4 and Switch OLED. The only thing I use anymore is my Switch since I got into visual novels last Summer. I am tempted to fire up my PS3 for a playthrough of Fallout 3 though since Bethesda continues to have their head up their ass and not release a Fallout 3 Remastered for Switch. I sold most of my PS4 games for Switch games but I still kept a majority of my PS3 games. I only the use the PS4 for anime blu rays.
I recently bought a BC PS3 and have it hooked up to a Sony CRT TV via scart RGB. It's such a breath of fresh air compared to played bf2042 on the ps5. The old ways are truly the best, and I don't feel old saying that.
