I noticed how slow it was using the online store ever since they updated from its original look. Close to ten years ago probably lol

Syncing trophies takes an eternity still.

Unknown_Gamer5794843d ago (Edited 843d ago )

What’s interesting is, they used to sync fairly quickly on PS3 until one annoying update. I recall it being the one where the extra trophy icon was also removed from the Game tab. The trophy feature became both slower and more inconvenient, and I’m really not sure what the intended up side to that change was. The slowness hasn’t been fixed since. Thankfully I only visit my PS3 every so often now.

TheExecutioner843d ago

upgrade your internet bandwidth i believe your still running on 5 MB/S

Abear21843d ago

Everything on PS3 takes forever, it’s the main reason I just can’t go back even for a few truly great games. The loading, the store, it’s just unbearable to me now and I have no problems admitting I’m spoiled now

TheEroica843d ago

Slow news day around here huh?

Pedrof843d ago

Yes, it's crazy to think that it would feel less outdated today had they sticked to the original web design back then.

Profchaos844d ago

I to still have my PS3 connected to my tv alongside a ps5 and X1, 360 and PS2.
It was a great system and I hope the rumours of backwards compatibility hold water as playing games on my old PS3 is fine but much like the X1 and it's backwards compatibility it would be nice to play these PS3 games at locked 30fps with higher resolution.

Michiel1989844d ago

what rumours, as soon as ps4 released people were hoping for ps3 back compat, but i dont think its ever actually been rumoured besides wishful thinking from the players? its just really unlikely with ps3 being such an alien in terms of its processor. Would be amazing if they managed to pull it of though. Ps3 has some gems on it that people shouldnt be able to miss out on.

jznrpg844d ago

It’s been rumored for sure. I’ve read several rumors but nothing solid that would make it more than a rumor

Michiel1989844d ago

fair enough, didnt know about that. I hope its true, I wanna be playing heavenly sword at 60 fps ;)

monkey602843d ago (Edited 843d ago )

The glitch on profiles last week added weight to the rumours too. It does seem like it may finally be happening.

N4G needs a proper rumours section I think. As it is, the site has become the last place to go to find out what is going on.

Profchaos843d ago

I do remember that but technically the PS4 was never capable of backwards compatibility.

The ps5 should be perfectly capable of it similar specced PC's are running rpcs3 and have the capability of emulating many games.

I think that's the main difference.

Along with that there's been a number of patents registered regarding emulating older devices by Sony and more specifically mark cerny.

A few instances of PS3 games appearing on the modern PSN and the trophy glitch recently.

And can't forget the heavily rumoured project Spartacus

Just based on that it seems like we will be seeing BC daily soon

I recently just bought a PS3 again £25 with a DS3 controller but was given a £10 refund due to the controller being slightly faulty. So £15 for a 40gb PS3 and I can use my ps5 controller on it.

Bought a copy of MW3 and tried the online and yer it works but damn no wonder the online on PS3 was free lol. But it works and it works ok. But looking at the PS3 online. This is why I'm fine paying £35 a year for PS+ and have been for 10+ years now.

mike32UK843d ago

It was free because Sony stumbled out of the gate with PS3, no other reason.

CDbiggen843d ago

MW3 survival I was playing online just last year. I'd be very surprised though if anyone was online now though

Yui_Suzumiya843d ago (Edited 843d ago )

I have a PS3, PS4 and Switch OLED. The only thing I use anymore is my Switch since I got into visual novels last Summer. I am tempted to fire up my PS3 for a playthrough of Fallout 3 though since Bethesda continues to have their head up their ass and not release a Fallout 3 Remastered for Switch. I sold most of my PS4 games for Switch games but I still kept a majority of my PS3 games. I only the use the PS4 for anime blu rays.

Good-Smurf843d ago

For those two Fallout games on PS3 I couldn't stand its save bug that crash the game so I ended up play PC version instead, first time I got back to PC gaming in over 15 years.

LoveSpuds843d ago (Edited 843d ago )

The Switch really is a great choice if you like JRPGs or visual novels, there are so many to choose from.

Having said that, many of those titles also release to PS4 where they obviously perform better and look sharper, just curious as to why you don't utilise that option if it presents itself squire? Do you like handheld mode?

Yui_Suzumiya840d ago

Alot of the high end games I own on Switch I'd already owned and played on PS3 or PS4 in the past. Yeah, I don't even have a dock and I own the Switch OLED. I just do handheld. The TV is for the bigger consoles. If you have already then check out ISLAND. The best experience I've had in 39 years.

LoveSpuds840d ago

That's cool squire, thanks for the recommendation too, Island has flown completely under my radar, I'll check that out. Have a great day fella👍

aaronaton843d ago

I recently bought a BC PS3 and have it hooked up to a Sony CRT TV via scart RGB. It's such a breath of fresh air compared to played bf2042 on the ps5. The old ways are truly the best, and I don't feel old saying that.

LoveSpuds843d ago (Edited 843d ago )

Nostalgia is a hugely powerful emotion for sure. Having said that, I don't think I would 'prefer' older generations over the current one personally. I do like to occasionally revisit a classic though, SSX Tricky was a game I recently dived back into.

Great news if you do prefer older gens though squire, loads of great games to play that for the most part are a darn sight cheaper than current gen.

Wow.... two of my earliest gaming platforms. All they need is Coleco to round things out.

This is like Nintendo buying SEGA.

Good piece of history here.

edit: I wanted to read it but the cookies pop up is stopping me.

This was just before my time. I do remember my mom's friend having one all dusty in her apartment back in the day.

People forget that console wars are part of the history of this industry. The console wars were started by competitive companies all the way back then and continued through Sega vs Nintendo, Jaguar/3DO/NeonGeo, and PlayStation vs Nintendo and Xbox.

These companies are across oceans and competing for the same business. These companies created the console wars, not crazy fanboys.

It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.
