Ubisoft has revealed the PC specifications for Far Cry 6, and they're steeper than we anticipated, particularly if you want to use ray tracing.

Seems not particularly optimized given that the game looks not much better or even just equal to Far Cry 5.

I'm shooting for either 4k@60 fps with no ray tracing or 1440p@60 fps with ray tracing if possible. I wonder if the ray tracing implementation is even worth the hit. 60 fps is my priority though.

I wonder where DLSS fits in if it even does. Maybe it supports DLSS but the sponsorship from AMD requires that Ubi not mention DLSS.

Looking at the PC tech demo they dropped the PC edition looks to be a improvement on 5 and given that 5 didn't have ray tracing or other lighting effects Theresa going to be an increase on specs

Ubisoft probably didn't optimize the game that well in Raytracing. I have a RTX 3080 and was hoping to play this in 4K 60fps with Raytracing

I guess MCM GPUs are going to have to be the future if performance is going to start being this demanding and for high fps ray tracing.

This is why 1440p is still the sweet spot.

1440p is still amazing. Less heat, high performance, looks great. In some games maybe like the sexiest looking games we can attempt 4k 30fps rtx etc etc

Agreed. There's some other games I play in 4K 60fps with Raytracing turn on with no problem with a rtx 3080

Exactly they don't seem to put much effort in the PC games. I mean why leave out the most powerful platform to show how your game can really look. I say pass your game on to ID Software they know a thing or two about optimization 😀

Some people like having their framerate match their monitors refresh rate. I have a 1440p 165hz monitor myself. It's the current visual fidelity and performance sweet spot.

I pretty much did that with my 2070 super. My 27 inch monitor would seem silly with 4k when it's already impossible to see the pixels for me at 1440p. There's a resolution to inches ratio for the eyes and 1440p on my monitor size is within it

The reason why 1440p for a $500 MSRP card (The RTX 3070) matters is because it runs the majority of current AAA games 1440p @ 120fps Medium - Ultra settings / or esports games 1440p @ +200fps Medium settings in pure rasterization.

but this is not an esport game. not all games need 120fps. It feels kinda irritating to me people are calling the 3070 a 1440p card. maybe it's partly because I haven't be able to get one at MSRP and where I live, it goes for $1250 at the lowest and most of the time you can't even buy it on its own - you have to buy a whole new PC with it with the minimum requirement being the B560 for Intel and B550 for AMD MINIMUM! the GPU market sucks so much right now

The majority of PC gamers are still playing 1080p. 1440p is a better standard because higher framerates matter more than an arbitrary resolution that can be achieved with so many other ways.

I've yet to meet a PC gamer who'd rather play 4K@30fps, over 1440p@60+ fps with the same settings.

Look at the actual recommended specs this game is a complete mess on AMD cards if it's requiring a 6900 XT to do 1440p @ 60fps, I think that's a typo and should be the 6700 XT.

4K 60 on a 3060? I don't know about that. A 3060 is a 1440p card at best.

There's no game out there that does that except DOOM ETERNAL, which isn't an open world game, focuses on high framerates and Ray Tracing is minimal.

Facts. Control is super difficult to run above 30fps in 4k but it has wayyy more going on visually than far cry looks to have and I couldn’t do it lol. Step down to 1440p and it ran amazing. 4k does look nice when it runs well though. Hard to play lower rez games once you’ve been using it

Ray tracing simply isn't worth it on GPU's with current day architectures. Five or ten years from now with completely different designs maybe, but not now. Only my opinion of course.

Have a 5950x/3070/1080p 360hz HDR/ Not so interested in the series anymore but, I'm going to guess maybe I can get over 60-100 with RT off @ 1080p. Best to pass on RT if it's this much of a performance hit, and use reshade. Or you can just use DLSS or FSR. But I think DLSS might have the upper hand.

Consoles look bad nowadays, overpriced $70 releases, mainly medium setting quality, mostly low resolution upscaled 4K, needless multiplayer paywall to access something you're already paying for, gotta spend hundreds on specific M.2s, overpriced peripherals with stick drift, only a handful of bland movie games for the year, insane prices for the lack of performance.

One game with poor optimization is not an argument, especially when it's by a studio that is renowned for blandness, not that you'd know the difference.

the PC market is in a terrible state now. you almost can't get GPUs at MSRP anymore and it's even worst in the smaller markets. where I live, the 3070 runs for $1250 at the cheapest and here people are calling it a 1440p. the 3080 is running for $2500 even. try to justify THAT

I can easily justify it. I already built my system that runs circles around both new consoles back in 2019. Weird cop-out argument on your part considering you can't even readily find either console on store shelves or online storefronts, if anything you're more at the mercy of scalpers since depending on what system integrator you go with, NZXT, Digital Storm, Etc cetera. You can get a GPU at closer to MSRP, and sell or use the pre-built. There is no such workaround with consoles, you're simply SOL.

Do they seriously develop for future hardware? What if that hardware doesn't release or is delayed... Oops can't run out game at max settings cuz we developed it to take full advantage of a future piece of hardware...

3070 isn't a 4k card. It's a 1440p card.

Graphically doesn't look much different to other farcry games.
