Ubisoft Confirms Far Cry 6 Will Be 4K On PS4 & PS5 After All

I'm still disappointed that MS once again dropped the ball for yet another event. Believe it or not, Sony (like any other company) needs competitors to keep them on their toes. If not they're going to get complacent and do whatever they want.

I'm pretty sure the execs over at Sony watched that event and said to themselves; "we really don't have to worry about anything MS has or do" and that's a serious problem.

I get where you're coming from but Microsoft isn't who I want to compete with them. I would rather it just be Nintendo and PC than Microsoft. But if it was someone like Sega (never going to happen) I would be all for more competition. Honestly I would be complexity fine if Microsoft quit making consoles.

And of course games. One thing i do think is they might do is go with the higher price they were thinking about for the ps5. If MS came in swinging they most likely had lower price point. But since that didn't happen....

Yeah because they have a history of doing that. Oh wait, no they don't.

The PS2 was crushing it and Sony continued to innovate on that little black box. From new games to peripherals like the Eye toy.

Look how they finished out the PS3 generation when MS gave up and ran for the casual hills.

When everyone including MS fans said cloud gaming wouldn't work it was Sony that forked over 300 million dollars and said we are going to make this happen.

Sony was the one willing to try 3D gaming more than anyone.

Sony was the one console maker that said we are going to run with VR.

Look how they are easily in the lead this gen and two of their biggest games are dropping in their final stand alone year.

Last financial quarter the entire Xbox division made $10b in revenue. That's game pass, live, game sales, console sales all rolled into one.

The same quarter PlayStation made $18b.
$6b in hardware
$2b on Plus and Now
And $10b from PSN game sales

Let that sink in, PlayStation made more revenue selling digital content off PSN, then the entire Xbox division made.

Gamepass is great, I love it, but it's never going to make you more money then when you sell games to a user base of over 90+m (sure PlayStation recorded 90m active users)

I'm looking forward to the actual numbers coming out when we compare 3rd party games across platforms. It's when the rubber meets the road and we can look back and tell what was BS, which engineering team was right, etc.
Resolution, frame rate, consistency in frame rate, and load times will be really interesting to measure. Only then can we weigh in on the engineering decisions made by these companies

Thing is, I've gotten a bit long in the tooth now to really care about a few extra pixels in a game. Don't get me wrong I'll absolutely get excited if a game looks gorgeous but what I mean is one version having more blades of grass and some extra strands of hair is a non concern.

I want the best experiences. Probably why the most exciting thing for me of all so far is the DualSense controller and 3D audio

I've been saying this from the jump. The difference will not be huge. The math says as such.

For some reason people were expecting a difference greater than that of 1X vs Pro. Expecting double the performance/frames Saying things like "the digital foundry comparisons are going to be fun" "wait until the 23rd, the power gap will be shown" and even after the 4K/60 mode for Spider-Man which many then doubted was possible for PS5 from 1st party devs, you still had those downplaying it after saying that Sony was "stuck in last gen going for 30 fps", saying things like "performance mode? That should be the normal mode" "strange that the next gen standard 4k is in the performance mode?"

Not to mention those that think that PS5 won't maintain the 10.3 TF despite Cerny saying it will and that if does drop it would be by a tiny percentage.

Almost everything these guys have been saying have been proven false, 9.2tf, overheating issues, no ray tracing, can't do 120fps for dirt, won't do 60fps for 1st party, Has rdna1 not 2, will be a 1440p/checkerboard/dynamic resolution machine and the list goes on.

Basically true. That's why I hate Xbox fans. They twist everything and make up silly rumors just so their console looks better. Look at this last gen and if Sony wasn't there to steer Microsoft in the right direction we'd already at a generation of always on cameras, no game trading or sharing, crappy A and AA games as first party, DRM and always online internet checks or your system is bricked until the next online check up. As well as many other toxic things. Most of the current gen has been Microsoft completely changing their box and services to be more in line with sonys. Most of the features of the OG Xbox one were added later on and a lot of them the ps4 shipped with out of the box. The spin is pretty insane with these people. The only good thing Microsoft might have done is gamepass, but it also cripples them into only making low quality A or AA games so they can meet the price model.

With Farcry and AC at 4K on both generations of Xbox and PS, makes you wonder what the benefit of the next gen version is? I won't buy it on either if it's 30fps with ray tracing and ultra settings, say what you will about Microsoft, Ubisoft needs to adopt the whole choice is everything mentality. You can put my favorite actor in your game, but I said New Dawn was the last time I will deal with stuttering, and frankly, my tv is a 1080p. If you can make bs like Kraken and Velocity/backwards compatibility you can create and deploy a universal dynamic resolution option that levels framerate over res. When your working with Ryzen processors I know for a fact all you need to do is drag your mouse over three sliders in the settings to boost performance.
