In these strange times when no one can be trusted, we looked closely at upcoming PC titles and selected a few that seem suspicious enough to come to the ‘’epic’’ side

It's just business. Do better or fall.

LuzCB19871842d ago

I agree. Most people don't know that the first motto of any business is to put yourself in a situation where you earn the most money.

Judge_Rez1844d ago

I fail to see why people hate Epic Games Store exclusivity.
This is not "forced scarcity", as the games are still on the PC platform - not another device. (which would have prohibitive switching costs and I would understand criticism in that case)
Not to mention, this exclusivity benefits the developers and their games - as they gain additional money which can be used to pay the workers, improve the games, finance new projects, etc.

Epic takes all hate, while the greedy publishers who accepted those deals are laughing and not held accountable for their greedy actions.

Judge_Rez1844d ago (Edited 1844d ago )

But your argument still assumes that EGS exclusivity is a bad thing, which it clearly isn't. What I've said still stands.
And those publishers, greedy or not, should not be criticised for these choices as they are clearly rational and beneficial for not only them, but the consumers as well.

LuzCB19871842d ago

I don't know why people consider choosing a better deal as a form of greed. In the real world it is in the nature of any business to put themselves in a position where they can potentially get more money.

For many, losing access to the features Steam has built for years isn't something that's easily dismissed by saying: "It's the same platform."

Epic is working on the updating it's own offerings, but for a lot of people, the same game on Epic is a lesser experience than on Steam.

There are some people who are just pissed off generally about exclusivity of any kind, which I empathize with myself, but we're used to it by now. Pulling Steam support from games up for preorder, or worse, going Epic exclusive on games crowdfunded with the promise of a Steam release is bullshit imo.

jeki1843d ago

I think developers should be left alone to decide what's best for themselves. There is no one-size-fits-all business model.

If you don't like the Epic Store there are other vendors to choose from, like Steam, GOG, Itch, etc.

Seafort1843d ago

I didn't know I could buy Metro Exodus on Steam, GoG, Itch.io etc. I've have to look into that...oh I can't.

Silly me, I remember Epic bought the exclusivity for a year so I can't buy it anywhere else. That's what choice means for you Epic shills I guess...

jeki1843d ago

Yup, Epic sure did buy the exclusive.

Poor baby can't play Metro with the Valve launcher...waaaa...waaaa.

I guess you don't want developers to have the freedom to make business deals that companies have been making for centuries.

You just have to freeze yourself like Cartman did -))
