Me I feel perfectly comfortable calling out any company including Microsoft for a lack of exclusives, dissapointments with Crackdown3, after poor E3 shows, misleading statements, etc because= thats how these companys improve. I hate to say this as a huge Playstation supporter but the way Sony is blocking crossplay with other consoles, this might force me to finally get a Xbox One or Xbox One X to supplement my Nintento Switch for current and future crossplay titles. There is no way on 'God's Green Earth' that people can defend this unethical practice by a company. I wouldn't say people are defending it to its core, people would like it, the issue is after everything Sony has done since they turned things around with the PS3, being that one company in the big 3 who seems to "get it" with it's constant first party support and the like, they f*** up on something like this and suddenly it wipes away EVERYTHING they've done, like the scales have just went completely the other way. I mean sure there's been other things along the way which are questionable, no one is saying they are perfect unless you are a blind fanboy but this can't be made out to outweigh everything good they've done. No love lost if you switch consoles. I don't defend Sony on this because I do agree playing across platforms would be a nice addition, however I'm not going to switch platforms just because a few games aren't allowed cross play while other games are.

The other issue is people scream for cross play, yet it's always the same games debated. If I was the majority, I'd question why games like FF14 isn't on Xbox (or Switch), but the complaints are games like Minecraft, Fortnite, and Rocket League.

Before people start coming with pitchforks and negative comments, ask why you want cross play before screaming the need for it. The fact the majority want it, means the platform of their choice lacks the player base needed to keep things fresh and different.

If Sony don't want to do cross play for the remainder of this gen, then I sure hope that by next gen all companies are open to cross play for multi-platform titles. Let's set that precedent atleast since it will be a new gen and all 3 companies will be essentially on equal footing.

Still don't like the whole blocking an entire account from being able to be used on other systems though. That is really scummy.

Nintendo has no choice but to have some kind of cross-play. Sony is out so MS was the second best choice. Who would pay for a network with no players? MS is using them as leverage to rally people against Sony. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Minecraft on Switch require Live account? Fortnite requires your Live ID to be connected to your Epic account to be able to play between Xbox and Switch. Switch-only user is forced to create Live account even if he doesn't have Xbox. Don't you see a problem here?

Before you come in bashing me, yes I have a ps4 in my possession to basically play Sony exclusives that I'm interested and games like fortnite and paladins, since they took these policies then this will bite them in the ass eventually. Cross-play on PS4 would be nice, as I do have friends who are on other platforms but enjoy the same multi-plat games. That said, I'm not shedding any tears as Sony has delivered a lot of games, so much so that I'm dealing with a backlog.

For Sony's sake however, they should change their stance on this before next gen begins. Cross-play isn't something to gloss over and ignore.

I believe they already have it, you can cross play with SF V and FF 14, just to make a few.

Imagine a world where people played multiplatform games on multiple platforms and wanted to play them with others... Doesnt seem that difficult of a concept to me.

All this does is give gamers the freedom to choose a platform they want to play on and not be segregated from friends who may want a different one.

How I see it, anyone defending Sony is admitting that there is a large group of gamers who would rather play games on a different platform than PS4. Because if that wasnt the case then this wouldnt change anything from a monetary perspective.
